Just in case anyone was in the shopping mood...

I've been experimenting with loading maps from GPS file depot onto my Nuvi 200 either into the unit or on an SD card with good results. Yesterday however, it wouldn't let me select City Navigator until I did a major reset on the unit. Now I can use City Navigator again, but I can't deselect it if I wanted to switch to a topo map or something else covering the same area as the Garmin map.

This may be going overboard BUT is there any way to make the Nuvi (1490T) announce speed limit changes. For example, you get on a turnpike with a 65 mph speed limit and then a section is permanently 55 mph - the Garmin knows this - it is shown on the screen but it occurs to me that it might be good to hear this with a spoken announcement "Speed Limit now 55 miles per hour."

I don't know about other brands or models but I have a new (2 weeks) zumo 660 that I have setup 2 different POI files with proximity alerts. Used POILoader in manual mode.

The Rest Stop Combined POIs work fine but the Harley Davidson Dealers doesn't work on the few stores I've driven by.

Its my understanding that my Kenwood DNX5120 navigation is actually a StreetPilot 7200 (I don't know for sure)

So, I know on my wife's Nuvi 255wt I have it security locked with a passcode and our actual location - I'd love to be able to do the same with my head unit. Is that possible???????

Have anyone purchase or used the Garmin 3790LMT? How do you like it? Any problems? I received one for Christmas thinking of getting a 3760LMT as a gift. Thoughts

I was used to my 76csx with a built in altimeter. I have looked at the manual for the Nuvi 1490T and in doesn't mention one. Does this mean that it doesn't have one?

My 265WT won't update the firmware. Using WebUpdater, it gets to about 71% and aborts with a message about an I/O error.

Interestingly, it prompts to click NEXT and I did so. More updates then available such as an update for the traffic receiver and all of the languages I have deleted. I updated the traffic receiver without incident. But the main firmware update refuses to complete.

When is the next Garmin map update due?

So who should I contact to encourage the traffic information coverage expand to my city.
I'm in Albuquerque, Navtec says they have no plans to expand here. although their first message was to talk to Garmin.
I'm wondering if the state highway department might have something to do with it.

Any thoughts?

All of a sudden now when I plug my 1490T into my Windows 7 computer i get a screen pop up on the computer that says that Windows wants to "scan and fix" my Garmin drive - also saying that there "may" be something wrong with some of the files on the drive.

There is also an option to ignore and not scan - which is what I am doing.

I'm new on the site, and recently acquired a zumo 665 Road Tech. I changed the splash screen to update it with a Yamaha picture, but the Harley logo still comes up when I first turn it on. How do I get rid of that so only the Yamaha logo shows?

I just bought a new Garmin 1450 LMT to replace my Magellan 3225 which was trusty for years.

Here is my problem:

1) I want my Garmin to notify me voice AND with a tone (a few yards closer) when I'm about to come to a turn. (Magellan 3225 did this).

did Garmin disable the junction view in the 1490 updates? It so happens I have my Tom Tom 340 XLS with me and comparing the 1490 side by side with the 340 the Tom Tom junction view shows almost every exit ramp...the 1490 shows almost none...has this feature been disabled (stinks as it was a major reason for buying the 1490) or have I somehow ham fisted the unit and shut it off...any thoughts?

Driving down to FLA I decide to try the hands free component. At first the 1490 paired with my LG Touch flawlessly...specifically the phonebook showed on the NUVI and the calls made, etc. list worked. Now, the device and phone pair but there is no call history showing and no phonebook showing...what did I do wrong...TIA.

I have seen a few units that display a banner at top that alerts you I have installed speed and red light and all that works fine. I only get a small gry marking on screen that alerts Is there something I'm not entering to get this. The unit was purchased in June 2010 Thanks

I asked Garmin how to recalibrate the touchscreen on my nuvi 1300. Here is what they said. It worked, by the way.

How to re-calibrate the screen.

"Pre 2.70 software: Press and hold the power button until the Touch Screen Calibration appears on the display (approximately 30 seconds)

Yesterday I downloaded POI Loader and tried to install POI files.

Today I do not have any of my previous info nor the new.

What happened and how do I fix??

Im new to this and have a question. I have a nuvi 855 and am loading the poi's into an SD card in the Garmin. Will the nuvi 855 see this or do I have to load the poi files into the unit's storage?

so I got a new Nuvi 3760LMT for xmas... plugged it in to my computer, as I used to do with my nuvi 680, and got prompted for a software update. all seemed to run fine, but when I restarted the GPS, and plugged it in again, came back with the same software update needed.
tried it a few times, same result.
