thanks for bearing with me guys with some probably easy questions. I am updating my software, etc, and see that I am also eligible for a numaps Lifetime North America update.

What is the difference with this map and the already installed City Navigator North America I have? Rather ask here than call garmin to be honest.

I love the fact that the suction mount USB powers the nuvi's now, so I no longer have to unplug to take the unit on and off the mount.

My question is whether I can buy another car charger/traffic receiver that will allow me transport the gps in another vehicle. Or, would I have to buy another garmin one?

Looking for a POI list of all the US State Capital building addresses (not just the city, but the address).

While trying to open a previous csv file today it hung up. The program froze and I could not get out of it. I had to do a reset on my computer.

Canada Post was nice today and decided to ship my purchase to me today to play around with, etc. Got a good deal on Best Buy for my 2350LMT and looking forward to the upgrade from my other unit.

I have registered, download all the Managers and now working on my first map update. Looks like it is about a 45 minute process on my laptop.

I create a custom POI for my Nuvi 50, used both notepad and extra editor. Everything seems fine, use garmin poi loader. My file is located under 'extras', custom poi. easy to find, but when I select a item it shows up great but without the "GO" function. Here is an example line.

Thanks to many on this forum I can now do paperless geocaching on my Nuvi. Recently I borrowed an Oregon 450 as I have to replace my ailing Legend. It turns out the 450 will process/display Redlight camera info using either csv or gpx files as well (warning banner, small icon, and a beep). So my friend will be in for a pleasant reply when I return it to him next week.

I was recently into Bestbuy intent on purchasing a 2595. However, on display next to the 2595 was a 3490. The 3490, although smaller had a much more brillaiant and sharper screen. So, now I'm studying the 3490 instead.

From what I read, HD traffic reporting on the 3490 is more current, but very limited in scope in comparison to other formats.

I was just wondering..... Do the Garmin Nuvi's with 'voice command navigation' accept manual input (touch screen) while the vehicle is in motion. I believe some built-in (factory) units do not allow input if the vehicle is in motion. I am more interested in the newer/high end models.

I have a Garmin 1490LMT. What are the pros and cons of Mapsource verus Trip and Waypoint Manager? Presently I have neither. Are they worth the investment?

I just received a Garmin 2460LMT as a gift and just registered it. I just downloaded the Lifetimeupdater to my computer for the life time maps.
It offers 3 options - download to device, download to device and computer or download to computer. What is the best option to select to download the 2012.30 maps.

I have compare the 2595LMT and the 2460LMT. But it doesn't tell me which is better. If anybody is using either one can you tell me what if there is any problem with either unit that you don't like.

I'm having a problem with .wav files on my new laptop.

Over the holidays I went to Niagara Falls. I had preprogrammed my route into my GPSr. I usually leave the unit in the glove box and only take it out when I need it. Well on this day when I selected my route on the GPS it stayed in calculating mode for over 40 minutes. I then selected a route that I have gone to in the past and that worked fine.

I'm thinking of purchasing between one of these gps units and would like some feedback from members here on which one they think is better. Thanks.

As much as I like this new unit, there have been some buggy things I can't pin down yet. If you go to Where To and then manually type a POI, later it will leave the history in a blue bar under the area where you typed the name. There doesn't appear to be a way to clear that out. I went through all the Clear Recent menus under Settings, etc. but none of them clear that blue bar.

According to Garmin, there is a feature called safe texting which works via bluetooth to phones that support MAP (Message Access Profile).

Just got a nuvi 2455LMT for Christmas to replace my 255w (which died that same day D:). I never had trouble loading custom POIs on the 255w.

My wife gave me a Nuvi 2555LM for Christmas and I want to add a custom POI file for my job. I downloaded the Garmin file from my company website and it is in GPI format already and the Garmin loader program will not recognize it.(only CSV and GPX files are read by the loader program)
