Garmin talk

I recently updated my Nuvi's mapset to 2014.40. I also downloaded voice updates. I have been using "Jack" but since update I think Jack's voice has taken a step backward. He now mispronounces relatively simple street names. Any one else notice this or is it just me.

Has anyone noticed that the length and breadth of I-80 through Nebraska is flawed? If you have 40 tons as a maximum gross weight (and in some other states for parts of roads) it will not route you on I80. In fact, if you have anything over 9 tons you will not be routed on I80. This has to be due to this http://imgur.com/Mwcfy3w and someone being confused as to its meaning.

So, does anyone know if Garmin's 2014 product line for vehicles will be limited to the Essential Line? No additional "Advanced" or "Prestige" series this year? Thanks.

Hallo, does anyone have any experience with the smartphone-app that works together with the nuvi 3597?

What i want to do is to send a place from an app in my smartphone to my Nuvi, they seem to connect but i dont know where the place i sent should appear in my garmin. Anyone around here knows something?

How exactly did I get a Windmill? Didn't find anything in the FAQs or postings. I also see people with various "Badges of Honor" I would suspect there is some criteria for those, too.

I am looking at upgrading my Garmin 265T to a 2595lmt or 2495lmt.
Do these models need a sd card for maps?
When you do a map update does the new map overwrite the old one?
I did look at a TomTom and I noticed that it has rest stops as poi that you can set a distance warning preloaded.
Do the Garmins have such a feature or do you still need to download the rest stops from POI factory?

Is it possible to put the latest date on the POI file in the alpha list? Sure would make it easy to see what we may need to update.

I have USB port in my vehicle, can I run/charge Garmin GPS from this. I have a cord but nothing happens when connected. Do I need to do something????

I tried to update the English voices, but no joy. The dialog stated that there was about two minutes left for an hour, but there wasn't a thing downloaded. Contacted Garmin support. Told me to put the unit into MTP mode. That didn't work because my unit is not supported, but they had the model and serial number.

Anyone know what happened to the GPS Underground site?

I just got a new computer with Windows 7. I just tried to update the POI's on the 3590 but it has a pop-up window that says no devices were found and also that I should set the interface option to Garmin or host. The question is: How do I do that? Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone replace the battery in a Nuvi 2450?

Do the POI for red light / speed cameras work on this model? I had been considering purchasing from Garmin but found out that the newer models are not compatible. Thanks.

Have a Garmin 2595 and it doesn't let you know when you are near a school zone. Is there any way you can make them show up? If not do any of the Garmin's alert on a school zone? Thanks

Needed a pit stop today, missed the sign and the POI alert was too late. As I understand it (right or wrong), I have two choices. I can create a TourGuide, or I can load the POIs with a distance like 5280ft which will alert at the one mile mark. If I use TourGuide it will alert at 2 miles if 10560 feet is entered. Is all this correct, or part of?

Just started getting alerts on my taskbar from Garmin warning me of pending discontinue of support for XP. I wonder if that means I will not be able to update the maps if I keep XP for a while?

Eventually I'll upgrade to Windows 7. I'm in no rush.

My father just bought a 2014 Toyota Sienna with Toyota factory nav installed.

Is there a known way to export the Garmin PoIs from his Nuvi and import them into the Toyota?

I joined here about 3 weeks ago and have read a number of posts and asked many questions. What I have learned has helped in me in getting more out of my 2460LMT.

I think I originally found this site through a Google for some question/issue I had. Anyway, you all have helped my immensely.
