Garmin GPS in In Dash Receivers

I am looking at replacing the 7" in dash receiver system in a 2006 Freightliner Sportchassis.

Looking on line I have seen a couple that not only have the radio/cd/back up camera/ etc., but also have navigation capabilities. I believe it was a Pioneer that I saw that listed the GPS as Garmin.

Does anyone have experience with these? Are the maps up dateable??

Trying to decide if I should just by the stand alone Garmin for RVs or simplify the dash and have it on a built in unit.

Thanks for any assistance.

Kenwood

The Kenwood's are the only one that I know of that uses the Garmin interface and yes the maps are updateable and available on the Garmin site plus you can also use the custom POI's from this site.

I have an older Kenwood

I have an older Kenwood DNX9140. The maps on that unit can only be updated by purchasing an SD card though. You also have to leave the card inserted all the time, otherwise it reverts back to the default maps.

Overall ok, but Kenwood's are buggy. eg. the ipod stops working several times a week, and have to restart the Kenwood and/or ipod, sometimes there is no audio and have to do a reboot. It is like a crappy computer at times.
