Bluetooth connection using Smartphone Link app works great now

I used to have lots of Bluetooth connectivity issue on my Nexus phones with Nuvi 3597. I used to close the Smartphone Link app after shutting down my Nuvi 3597. Far the past one week, I stopped closing the app, it is always running. Now my Nexus phone connects flawlessly with Nuvi. It is working flawlessly on Android not sure of IOS.

I am glad you worked the issues out. I have been using Smartphone Link for over a month now with no problems on a Droid Bionic and a Nuvi 2597lmt.
It would rarely connect
It would rarely connect automatically for me. Now I keep Smartphone app always running and it connects automatically now.

Have you updated the
Have you updated the bluetooth firmware on your Nuvi? Do a google search on "Garmin Nuvi updating bluetooth firmware". It shows you how to update it.
Bluetooth updates are
Bluetooth updates are probably done via full firmware updates. There is no separate file available for update. my nuvi 3597 shows bluetooth firmware 3.0.11 P32.
