What is your old Garmin Model vs your new Garmin Model? Will you keep the old or give it away if you don't have other use for it?

I must be missing something..
I don't care for all the restaurant icons on the map while using the gps. Is there a way to turn these off from settings?
I go down certain roads and it is filled with restaurant icons, it's just saturated..

Hi everyone.I just bought my first garmin gps unit it's a 2460 I bought it used from ebay but can't wait to receive it an start using it. Idk what to expect from it an Idk if I'll need to update maps it anything. .if anyone could help me to knw what to expect an is the 2460 nice to have? What is the best thing about them?

Wanted to start new thread addressing converting the current mp3s to wav files in discussion http://www.poi-factory.com/node/44024.

To prevent any duplication of what I have sent to POI Factory for adding to sound files.

1. The files I maintain for POI Factory. Contained the current wav files I had or convereted in the past.They were linked to each csv or gpx file.

My Garmin 60CX USED to work with Garmin Express, and this is what the Garmin website says to use. However, even though Express recognizes the 60CX, it has me download Garmin Map Updater instead. And today, Jan 17, 2015, it downloads North America 2014.3 as the latest map, even though I have 2015.1 installed.

I recently purchased a NUVI 2598 LMT to replace a apprx 10 year old NUVI 760 that, regrettably, is dying (both battery and screen).

A year ago, I also purchased a NUVI, a 3597, to replace the old 760. I had to return that one, just like I'm about to return the 2598. I did so because both had major issues that, per customer service, weren't flaws but "features".

Can you watch movies on the Garmin Dezl 760? I know it is capable of such a feat, but there isn't a program on it to utilize it. I would imagine being able to watch a weather report broadcast from the local area would be great, and with the screen size and location, would be perfect.

I want to use my garmin to playback music. The microSD card which I have a map on it, still a lot free memory spaces.

can I make a folder to contain some MP3 files? will effect the map rounting or the music playback?

Just received my refurb 2797LMT.
What a beast!! Gonna love it.
Sure is a bit different than my Zumo550.
Had a problem with my Win7 64bit not recognizing the unit until I remembered a previous problem with plugging into a front usb port.
I then plugged it into one of the rear ports and Voila!! Problem solved.
Updates using GE went without a hitch.

I'm having a problem getting sound files to work on my nuvi 2557. When I load them with a mp3 extension I don't get any voice message. Only the dong.

When I load them with a wav extension I get a message on the loader that it can not use the sound files or something like that. What am I doing wrong?

How do I put POI s on a SD card? The info must be somewhere but I can't find it.

I'm trying to download the latest North American map update(2015.30) onto the unit but it stalls at 56%.

Next I try and download it to my computer only. Now it stalls at 75%

I have the lifetime update.

Any ideas appreciated.

I finally bought a 16GB micro SD card for my Garmin Nuvi 3597. All the talk recently about formatting has me wondering about that. The manual simply states to insert the memory card. What, if anything, do I need to do to use the micro SD on the 3597? The manual does not state how to format it. How will I know when it is formatted properly?

I just received my factory refurbished Nuvi 2557. It was advertised as an LMT but there is no traffic receiver in the power cable. Is there a way to find out for sure what it is? I e-mailed Garmin but that might take a while.

I recently purchased a Garmin 2797LMT and I would like to remove the non English items from the following folders to gain additional space:

keyboards
text
themes
tracker
voice

Has anyone done this and if so can they give me step by step directions on what files can actually be deleted.

After trying to find out how to install an aftermarket voice on my new Garmin 2797 LMT on the internet with no success, I found through trial and error the following procedure. First off I'm using Widows 7 but I believe this will work on most windows operating systems.

I accidently formatted my garmin NUVI 760 instead of the sd card. Now my computer will not recognize the Garmin or the Sd card, while it is in the Garmin. Is there anyway to recover it?

I have a Nuvi 2757 and I have been trying for a while to get the voice alerts to work. Here is what I have done so far. I installed the Sox.exe file in the proper directory. All the files have the same name. I have deleted all my added poi file and reinstalled several time and still no voice just a tone. I'm sure I am missing something simple put I just can't find out what it is.
