Garmin talk

So I am currently travelling around the country on vacation and I have been using the Garmin 3490 extensively and it's been great but for the first time in four years it froze in the middle of navigation. It showed an exit to get off at and after I did, it stayed on that screen for at least a mile later. I tried voice command and touching the screen but nothing.

Garmin folks, I recently had several items taken from my car, including a Nuvi. I filed a police report and gave them the model and SN. I also called Garmin support and let them know it was stolen. They can't track a GPS but they listed it as stolen in their system and disabled any map or software updates. After 2 weeks, the police called and they recovered my Nuvi.

I looked at Ebay for a battery for my Nuvi 2598LMT but had no luck but found some for the Nuvi 2597LMT. Can I use this one for my 2598LMT?

I have a new Nuvi 2589. It is updated with the latest version of all the software. I have the latest version of Basecamp for Mac. I can create routes in basecamp with no problem. I then click the upload and the window opens and says the upload to the device is done. I disconnect my device and start it. I then get an error "Cannot Save Trip" wit the tripName.

Hello! I am a bit confused. I have downloaded POIs to my PC, and loaded them to my Garmin with POI Loader! My question is this.....is it possible to have POI files run continuously in the background, so that they appear on my GPS as I am traveling, or are the POI files only usable in a static-type mode!

I bought this Unit about 4 weeks ago, updated the Software and Maps. I ran a Simulation and everything was good to go. Later on that day, I plugged it into the Car Power port ( Rated at 5amps )and as soon it powered up, the Unit went into Computer connection mode, could not power down but after I disconnected the Power Cord, I got the Garmin Logo, the Unit worked fine after that.

I use my Nuvi 2598 sometimes to make a phone call using voice comment. Lately Phone Book and Call History is not highlighted any more and of course I can't use it. . Anybody has an idea what happened?

On my old 2460 I could tell it there was a detour and it would plot a new route around it. I use to use it often when I just didn't want to use the suggested road it wanted me to turn on. I can't find that option on our two current Garmins a 2689 and 2589. Did they remove this feature or am I just not finding it?

That white blob is me mowing the lawn. And I know that because when I mow, I move a decorative park bench out of the way by placing it in the middle of the drive - which is what caught my eye.

Hi. I have a 3490 and several times lately it has said Overheat or something like that.

Anyone else been experiencing with their units ?

I know years ago there was a recall on some batteries that were causing overheating, but the 3490 wasn't among those units.

I need a step by step procedure describing how to load map updates to an SD card on my LMT 3490. The device is full when I attempt to update I get the message to use an SD card. The question is how? Garmin express finds the device +SD card but I have a choice of Device, Device and computer, and computer.

I've just started to find my way around this unit.

Looking for feedback from anyone with Nuvi 2599/2699. When I use voice command to "Find a Place", let's use Costco as an example, it displays Costco warehouses but shows multiple listings for same location all with the same address.

Any idea what why it does this ?

Hello, 2 questions:
1) Is there any way to remove the CUSTOM Pois directly from the Garmin device, without having to go to Poi Loader ?. My device is Nuvi 765t.
2) Is there some Garmin model that allows deleting custom pois from the device?

Why can´t I download EPE files and get work? Some with the same problems. I am using a PC and Win7.

When I have my new Garmin nuvi 2689LMT connected to my PC (Windows 7), there is no "Safely Disconnect" icon in the system tray, and no "eject" option in "my computer". Each time, I have had to just unplug the USB. This makes me quite concerned that data from the nuvi might be lost or corrupted, but I have no idea how to resolve the issue.

Just purchased factory refurbished Nuvi 2599LMT. Have yet to check what mapset version is installed but I'm guessing update might be in order.
