I've had a custom RLC alert audio file on my DS-50 for a couple of years and it has worked fine. However awhile back (I think it was after the 2020.2 upgrade) it stopped working. Is it possible there was something in the upgrade that inhibits it? I have not made any other changes to my file structure etc.

I have been losing 'Free Space' on my PC SSD and discovered that one of the main culprits was that Garmin was backing up each map(2GB+ apiece) after every update. 12 updates has resulted in ~24 GB of lost free space.

The limited settings menu in GE has no choices for saving/deleting map updates.

OK. I replaced the battery and hot glued it to keep it from rattling. The hot glue failed and I snapped off the switch from the circuit board while opening the case.I looks like it was never soldered, only stuck on with two plastic pins. I ohm-ed it out and it always looks like a short. Has any one had experience repairing/reinstalling the switch ?

Anyone know how to reboot a newer Honda factory navigation system? Restarting the vehicle doesn't really do a full reboot of the Android infotainment system as it seems to be a sleep/hibernation mode. Occasionally, I see weird things happen that I'd rather initiate a manual reboot perhaps weekly before it inevitably crashes, freezes, or just goes blank at a most inconvenient time i.e.

A trivial question, but one that has bothered me for a long time. I have a Nuvi 40LM (old, but still useful thanks to the lifetime maps). I use the female voice with the British accent (don't recall the name)because it is so well enunciated that I can understand it better than most. Frequently it directs me to "take sid road", or at least that's what it sounds like to me.

I have a predicament where I need more space on my C drive.
The only item I see that will give me room is the Garmin map file 2020.20
I am using 2020.30.

I install almost all programs to my D drive partition which has
tons of room.

It seems to me I deleted the second to last map once and it caused me problems, i.e I had to reinstall Garmin, maps etc.

... to me anyway.

I just updated my Jeep 430n (a Garmin based in-dash unit) and was checking it out to see if all went well.

Are the custom avoidances stored in the current.gpx file or are they stored someplace else? My custom avoidances get corrupted every time I restore the gpx file. It happens with my Nuvi 2559LMT and DriveSmart 5.

My Garmin 2559LMT died. I attempted to replace the battery and ended up breaking the battery clip off of the system board. I called up Garmin. They offered me a refurbished GPS in trade for $100. I thought my unit was toast. I looked up a place that I bought Garnin parts from previously. I contacted the owner Chris Short.

Looking at the Speed Camera CVS file for the week of November 27, 2019 I was amazed to discover that of the total U.S. entries (2029) 41.54% were located in Maryland and New York. Canada files were also included in the 2029 files.

Breakdown is as follows: (USA States only)
Maryland= 615
New York= 228
Total files= 2,029

i have a Garmin Nuvi 68. When I uploaded my POIs to my Garmin, The subfolders would show up in alphabetical order. Like Applebeek Crakerbarrel etc. A couple of years ago, the stoped loading in Alpha order and load radomly. This is very frustrating but I put up with it hoping I could figure out what I was doing wrong.

Is there anybody here that has the Garmin DriveSmart 65 with Amazon Alexa? If so, I am interested in hearing what sorts of things you use Alexa for while traveling?

I need some help and advice I am 83 years old and have a 3597 and a 2640 Garmin, I would like to sell these both together they are in excellent condition with current map updates 2020.30 red light cameras and rest stops have not been updated for a while. Both units are always kept in a case and Inside never left in the car when it was real hot or cold.

There was a recent thread here opened on the Garmin Fleet 670 device based upon some offerings of them on eBay. Well, I started checking eBay and found one recently being offered as an auction with a very low starting bid. I bid a dollar or two above the starting price and won the auction as the only bidder. I now own and have a fleet 670 and thought I'd share my findings with you.

I have considered a 7 inch Garmin. I am wondering what is, or was, the most feature rich 7 inch Garmin GPS? Was there ever a 7 inch version of the Garmin Nüvi 3597LMTHD or Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S?

I do see that there is the Garmin DriveSmart 65 with Amazon Alexa. Could that be the most feature rich 7 inch Garmin?

Let me start by saying I am more than 40 miles from an electronic store so do not have the luxury to get another cable.
The cable I am using is a borrowed genuine Garmin cable. Plugged into my laptop it can recognize my old 855 but it does not recognize my SD 50.
I want to update to 2020.30. To do the 855 I use the cloning method but I cannot do the SD 50 like that.
Any suggestions?

Used this site's POI's and speed cameras for my holiday trip to Florida (returned yesterday) and didn't realise there were so many red light cameras there! The POI's were really useful as not too familiar with your roads, as you drive on the wrong side and that needed concentration, but it got me everywhere I wanted to go.
