Normally, no. I've purchased a dozen or more Garmin factory refurbished units over the years. Only one experienced a problem but it was promptly replaced under warranty.
Refurb Driveluxe 51's were recently selling for around $120 whereas new units were once going for close to $300.
My point in mentioning new vs refurb is, IMO, this makes the $83 eBay price is a better value. Personally, I would rather buy a used unit that was purchased as new than a used refurb. Of course, the ultimate value will depend on the actual condition of the eBay unit.
