How do you tell a redlight camera from speed camera?
of course if it is not next to a traffic light, it is a speed camera but they can put speed cameras near intersections, then how can you tell them apart?

A new service ... or maybe just a bonehead idea?
I see a company is offering a new "service" of regularly updated speed and red light cameras for a fee.

Updated Speed/Redlight Camera POI's
Just a question. With each update, are all of the cameras still included or only new ones?
It seems that the first file I downloaed a month or so back had alot more cameras than the latest update.
But it could just be me though.

Arizona To Install 350 "MORE" Speed Cameras
Disregard. It was an April Fool's joke put out there by KTAR News Radio of all people!
Guess I'll find another radio station to listen to.
The speed cam issue here is pretty serious stuff for them to be "Fooling" with.

Starting Wednesday morning, speed cameras will start issuing tickets to lead-footed motorists in Takoma Park, Md.
Takoma Park is late to the speed camera game. The District and Montgomery County have been utilizing the hated devices for years.

The [Nassau] county legislature unanimously approved a request to the state to allow Nassau to install red light cameras at 50 intersections, in hopes of reducing accidents and of generating badly needed revenue.

New Camera in the Laurel MD (Washington Metro Area)
A new one was installed on 198E at the intersection of RT 1 South in Laurel, MD. It was just put up in the last 1-2 weeks. I don't think it is in the POI-Factory red light DB yet.
Has anyone else seen any new cameras in this area?

Seattle to install more cameras.
The reason stated by KING TV ch 5 was to raise revenue. Nothing was ever mentioned about safety. It was also stated that cameras do not deter speeding or running stops only visable law enforcement will do that. Well at least they are honest. Go figure!

Proposals for HOV cameras.
Another use for ticket cameras in Dallas, TX is to enforce HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) illegal lane changes. The article says the cameras will not enforce the number of drivers in a car, but you can bet they are wanting to.

Orange County, Fl Red Light Cameras
Late Tuesday afternoon, Orange County commissioners voted to install red light cameras across the county. At least 40 interesections (read list) in Orange County will be monitored by the high-tech digital cameras.

Maybe just a coincidence but... (lower speed limit in Montreal)
One month before they are due to start using the first red light and speed cameras in Montreal they have decided to lower the speed limit to 40 km/hr for the whole city.

Accuracy of Red Light Camera's
Just wondering what the accuracy of the Red Light File is? I am sure it is pretty high, but I really don't go through that many intersections that have the camera's. So for me the accuracy level is 100%, but Just thought if I plotted 20 camera locations and then went and visited them all, would I still be at 100% or more like 93 or 94

AZ DPS Mobile Speed Units Hard To Detect
I started using my Escort Passport 8500 X50 to see how it worked with the DPS Mobile Radar units. I am not impressed with the performance. This is by no means a scientific test but don't count on your radar detector to reliably notify you in time when you come up on one.

Direction of travel
Another questioin that I'm sure has already been answered through discussion... But I'll ask anyways
I have a Garmin 750, is there a way to have the unit determine direction of travel so it doesn't notify me of a camera on the other side of the freeway?
With so many speed cameras going up in the Phoenix area this thing is always screaming at me!
