The reason stated by KING TV ch 5 was to raise revenue. Nothing was ever mentioned about safety. It was also stated that cameras do not deter speeding or running stops only visable law enforcement will do that. Well at least they are honest. Go figure!

I hate all these stupid cameras. washington has to be the most f****d up state.
what happened to tim eyman's initiative to force cities to give the camera profits to the state for road improvements? I'd have voted yes and stood on street corners with signs (blocking the cameras view), etc.
I read an article about it and the immediate reaction from cities was.. oh, we wont be able to have cameras then if we don't get that money and this will impact safety. eyman's argument, if it really is in the name of safety, every city would do it even if they make no money and only have operating costs covered.
so far I've only seen near misses caused by the cameras, not any road improvements (I-90 is horrible). everybody is watching the light instead of the road. it goes yellow, some people will slam on the brakes to stop before that line, whole line of cars has to stop super quick
