A new service ... or maybe just a bonehead idea?

I see a company is offering a new "service" of regularly updated speed and red light cameras for a fee.

Isn't it nice to be a POI Factory Member and get this for free? Plus, I am know the updates happen a lot more frequently than I am sure this service will do.

Aren't these the guys who

Aren't these the guys who offer ludicrously cheap GPS prices and then pull the "you need an SD card for $80 and a map update for $150" scam?

No Problems with Beach Camera

I bought my Garmin 780 from Beach Camera and did not have any problems with them. Was very happy with the service. There rating at www.reselleratings.com is respectable.

I have bought a few products from this vendor and never had a problem.

Beach?

I remember seeing them as one of the companies singled out on a news program for (allegedly) less than honorable business practices. Shady pricing, taking included parts out and then charging more to sell them to you, charging more to ship than expected, etc.

Wondering if that actually changed their way of doing business after this news broadcast. (that was a while ago - I don't remember what show I saw it on, but if I can find it, I'll post back here.)

Now, if you look at their ratings, sort by low - the "newest" rating 1 or 2 is in December 2008. Since then, they're getting 3 to 5.

Just a thought.

Not a compensated endorser, not a customer, just looking at it from the side view.

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/21626 - red light cameras do not work

The market

Obviously their market is people who don't know about POI Factory. If I remember right Garmin has a trffic light camera data base for sale too. (or at least they did)

Gray Market Stuff

Last year I nearly bought a SLR camera from them at a very good price, then I saw it was a gray market camera. Didn't buy one from them.

POI Files -

I have complete confidence in POI-Factory's files and don't bother to search the net for something I already have the best of. (Is that good English?) Anyhow, you get the message. Why fix it if it ain't broke?
