voice on red light alert

For some reason when I remove the old red light alerts and installed the new ones I lost the voice on my unit that alerts instead of the beep. It still shows it and I can play it on the computer in the garmin voice section. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Speed camera's...how picky are they

We are about to get the red light and speed camera's in Quebec and I was wondering if they were set very accurate. By that I mean if a police officer was there with a manual radar gun he would usually not pull you over if you were only marginally over the speed limit, usually 5 - 10%. Do the speed cameras cut you any slack or is it 1km over the limit and your picture is taken?

Nuvi 265WT, should the receiver cig lighter adaptor show red?

I have a new Nuvi 265WT and I noticed that the amp light on the receiver that plugs into the cigarette lighter, always shows RED. It never turns green or yellow. I still get traffic and my 265 charges and works fine but I am concerned because I have never had a receiver the stayed red, they all have an amber or green light when functioning correctly.

Change TomTom file to Garmin File

I have a TomTom voice file vif and chk. Can I change it some how to work on my Garmin

Can I Update Garmin Bluetooth Firmware Manually

I just bought a Nuvi 885T, and I can't pair my LG Voyager with it. I received a message on screen a couple of times when plugging it in to my CPU that says BLUETOOTH FIRMWARE UPDATING. Unfortunately every time I get this message the screen freezes at about one percent and my CPU USB port recognizing the Nuvi interrupts and seems to cancel the update.

How useful are red light camerea POI

I just moved into the new millennium and finally bought a GPS. I recently got a red light camera ticket and I just wanted some feedback about how useful the red light POI's are. By the way Im in NY.

some people are really clueless about securing their GPS

I went to a restaurant tonight for a quick bite. As I leave, I notice the car parked next to me has the GPS on the dash. Worse still, the GPS is still plugged into the car charger and turned on.

It was a Magellan or a TomTom unit, mounted on a bean bag, and hooked up to the AC charger. The display was really bright in the dim parking lot.

Has anybody heard anything about new NGS maps coming soon?

I was surfing on the web over the weekend and I found some info saying that the NGS was going to issue some new maps and/or aerial photos (digital) that would work with the GEOPDFTool bar for pdf files.

Tried to find it again and couldn't find it. I even went through the browser history, page by page with no luck.

never blindly trust your GPS - a good article

here an interesting (and funny) article that reinforces the fact that you need to know what you have your avoidances set to, and not to blindly trust a gps unit!

Arizona Declared Speed Trap By AAA

While they haven't exactly labeled it as a "speed trap", The Triple A has decided to add a special advisory to maps of Arizona indicating the state is a "strict enforcement zone." The reason is the speed camera program aimed at planting dozens of fixed and mobile units on all major freeways and highways (they're well on their way already).

New Navigon Navigation

Have you all seen the new line of Navigon devices?

http://www.gpslodge.com/archives/024796.php#more

While not a Navigon user, they certainly have led a lot of the innovation of late in the market. The thing I really like is the different routing options and the times given to you before you start navigating.
