Opting out of Google Location-Based Services

I found this interesting info. We can opt out of Google location base service by appending "_nomap" (without double quotes) to our WiFi SSID. So if our SSID is called MyCoolWiFi, it becomes MyCoolWiFi_nomap.

The next time our wireless device (eg: an Android phone) sends info about the WiFi access point to Google location server, Google will remove our access point from their database.

This week we are recognizing alandb. Alandb took the time to do a thorough write-up of the technique he used to install map updates directly to SD card for his 755T. After many trials, he found an approach that worked and was nice enough to share his solution with the whole community.

Thank you alandb!

Question about New posts.... Sometimes I see them with red NEW, sometimes not...

Sometimes I see new posts in a thread highlighted with a Red "NEW", and other times not....

Take for example, the "NA 2012.30 is available" thread... I see there are 12 new posts... but today I don't see the red "NEW" indicator on the last 12 posts on page 2.

Black Friday / Cyber Monday - 2011

We're only about 2 weeks away from Thanksgiving now, so it's time to start up the holiday shopping thread.

Any great deals you find interesting are fair game. It's okay to go beyond GPS.

Let's use this thread up to Cyber Monday, and then I'll start another one for December Holidays.

What is the website to track your GPS?

I was trying to do a search with no success for this topic. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Roundabout opinion

I'm starting to see many new roundabouts around the US Southeast. I just read many older drivers don't like them. I'm 63, and am a fan.

It seems to me "Yield to traffic in circle" is much less confusing that the usual 4 way stop quandry of I think I was here first.

So, I'm curious: What's your opinion?

Like? Dislike? Why?

You bet

You used to be able to get lost in the crowd, but not anymore. Double click on any area in the picture to bring the person closer. Or, just click the mouse and use the mouse wheel to bring them closer.

You can scan and zoom to any section of the crowd. Wait a few seconds. Double click anywhere. And the focus adjusts to give you a very identifiable close up.
