This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related.
This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.
My family and I will be going on a Caribbean cruise in a couple of months. I am thinking of bringing a GPS along just to see where we are and how fast we are traveling. Will it work aboard the ship or will other electronics cause interference to it?
This week we are recognizing, a_user!
A_user has been a member of POI Factory for over five years.
We’ve enjoyed seeing this former Contributor of the Year participating in some of our busier problem solving threads this week. We appreciate the experience and perspective he brings to our community.
Plus he has a nifty avatar with our name in it.
I do not post much, if hardly at all, but I wanted to take a moment to thank the people behind the scenes here for keeping the POI Factory website running, as well as, all the folks that contribute in the discussion forums. You all have been a great resource over the years for keeping my Garmin Nuvi's up to date and running well!!!
I've always known that you could lose your windmill and I have lost mine several times, but didn't know you could lose your general maintainer status as well. When did that start? I've been relatively inactive for awhile.
I had an old Magellen when I signed up at POI Factory many years ago. I now have a new Garmin Nuvi, and I can't find any place in my account settings to change the brand and model. Help appreciated.
Recently had my desktop crash & had to replace it.
What is the poi loader I want to use for updating my Garmin Nuvi's & where would I get it.
If I remember correctly, it wasn't the very latest version that was the one I want to use, unless that's changed.
We had a issue last night with our daughters Bus company here in NYC. She rides a small bus for disabled children.
Anyways, I am wondering if anyone else had a issue like the following and what was done about it.
My daughter dismissal time is 2:30PM and normally gets home around 3:45 to 4:00PM. Last night she did not get home until 8:00PM!!
If you have an in-car navigation system, your car manufacturer is tracking you--and there's nothing you can do about it. See:
This week we are recognizing Bob.Sedona!
Bob.Sedona has been a member for several years but just recently joined the ranks of the file maintainers. Not only did he take over a couple of abandoned files (Rosati’s & UNO Chicago Grill), but he also submitted the new Heritage Steam Railroads And Scenic Trains file.
Is there a "Low Clearance" available for RVers to load on to my Garmin? If so, how do I find it? Did a search but nothing popped up.
Wishing Everyone a Prosperous and Happy New Year!!
POI Factory was unavailable for a little while this morning due to network troubles at our web hosting facility.
The problem lasted about an hour and was resolved just before 1:00 pm Eastern (10:00 am Pacific).
The failure was traced to an electrical problem in the data center, which disabled a network switch and interrupted our connection to the Internet.

How much snow are you getting from this storm in your

In danger of losing your windmill?
Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).
Anything to keep your windmill alive.

Voting has ended, and our general maintainers have selected jgermann as POI Factory's contributor of the year for 2013.
¡El Feliz Año Nuevo para todo! A Happy New Year to all!
May the best of 2013, be the worst of 2014 for you!
