I was playing around with online maps today. I was of the opinion that Google Maps was usually first with the newest street in my area. A few minutes ago I compared Garmin vs. Google vs. Open Street Maps. To my surprise, Open Street Maps had streets in a new development that neither Google nor Garmin had!

I'm just curious as to how some of these POI files are created. For example a truck stop waypoint will be marked at the major downtown intersection while the actual truck stop is several miles away on the Interstate. Does the person making them just see the location and drop a pin at the center of the nearest locale?

Just learned it last week and this week, that the YMCAs closed their pools if thunder is heard.

We have Y a which is 1.5 miles from home. They have family swim 2-4 hours per week, 1 or 2 times per week.

We have Y b which is 10.5 miles from home. They have family swim daily.

So this year, we've had to drive to the 10.5 mile one so my kid could have access to family swim.

This week we're recognizing TheBeachBum.

This week we're recognizing sirkull.

Sirkull mainly contributes through updating POI files.

In recent weeks, sirkull has been undertaking a significant effort to bring the Dollar Tree file up-to-date, posting updates with over 300 location changes.

Sirkull also regularly maintains a POI file for Free Talk Live Radio, a daily broadcast originating from Keene, New Hampshire.

Several times when visiting Philadelphia, I have been shocked to see cars (and tractor trailers) parked on the center lane of busy 2-way streets. For example, on Broad Street in front of the Broad Street Diner. This has a painted center lane with a double yellow line on each side of the parked cars, but on streets with concrete sidewalk center dividers they also park.

I saw this and felt there can only be one right, and one wrong, just like when someone blows a school bus reds. There's not really two sides of the incident.

Cop on cop is interesting.

This week we're recognizing minke.

Minke has been actively participating in the forums here at POI Factory for many years, often with special attention to scientific or technical topics.

My dad was an engineer.

So I remember him singing this tune, and taking particular amusement when he got to the part, "Don't know what a slide rule is for." Because he used one.

Then when he was done with the song, he would look at me as a little boy, and say, gosh this guy doesn't seem to know much about anything. Then laugh.

Going to work today with the I-95 bridge collapse.

Many at work are directly affected.

One persons actions affects hundreds of thousands over months--that's why it's a society.

When we were in DE last week, I picked up a Dewalt 20V cordless vacuum.

Figured this would be handy when vacuuming in the car's engine, or trunk, or garage, etc. Where I just wouldn't want to use the cordless home vac.

Also, in above cases, I need to get out the extension cord and the small shop vac.

Anyway, it was $149.00 at the big box store, and $149.00 at amazon.

Let us not forget the Greatest Generation who went ashore on the beaches of Normandy to fight for and protect our freedom and our way of life. They are quickly leaving us so if you know or see a WWII Veteran today, thank them for what they did .My father fought in WWII and would have been 100 years old on the 2nd of June, so they are leaving us quickly.
