Garmin talk

I recently purchased a second hand nuvi 255,
when I press the fuel icon, I get a variety of shops, resteraunts, bars etc all alegedly selling petrol!
Anyone any idea how I can fix this?

Do I have a problem? I noticed that my Garmin 1450 does not list all of my waypoints that I have stored. I have a file with all Subway locations but when I go to that file it only shows the locations within 15 miles. I loaded a file with all Harley-Davidson locations but when I go to that file I only see the locations within 200 miles.

From the very beginning I have had trouble with GE and its displaying Extras. Initially, the rep said that they were working hard on a solution. That was good. I understand that. Next was told to update. I did and solved. Issue back again even with the latest GE update. Email support has now given several solutions from different techs.

I was wondering how many of us are using Garmin digital traffic via Garmin Smartphone Link app in Canada?
I will appreciate your feed back..

When I try to load it to my GPS it gives me an error, I believe it says that the file is not valid or something to that effect.

I just read the FAQ for Garmin Backup. What does that procedure do that backup within GE does/doesn't do? Why not copy the Garmin files to a PC folder and be done??

Sorry for yet another post on the 3597 and on Garmin Express. But for folks upgrading to a new nuvi, especially the 3597, from an older nuvi model, maybe this thread can be a good summary for potential new 3597 purchasers or owners. And a big thanks to all who pointed me to the GPS Store and its refurbed 3597 for $220.

Observations:

Having problems in getting the Starbuck POI to register alerts during regular travel. I downloaded Subway, Les Schwab and it works fine. Sox does its' thing. So, not sure what the issue is. Suggestions??

The Magellan I retired had an audible alert for over the speed limit. Is there a way to have either a voice or a beep-beep when you go over the speed limit? In the Magellan you could input the mph over the speed limit you wanted to be alerted. It was very useful.

I recently made a trip from California to Phoenix, AZ. There were lots of junction views with the newest large JCV files. It seems that between my copilot, myself and then navigator(Garmin 1450), sometimes the view comes on about 1.5 miles out and at other times it is .8 miles out. Is there a rule for this?

I have noticed since this morning that there is no traffic coverage of all 400 series of highways in Toronto area on Smartphone Link app. I am not sure if it just me or everyone is affected. I will appreciate any feedback.

This site is showing traffic on 400 series of highways. Normally this site has same coverage as this app.

Having fun adding POIs to my 2460LMT. Have a question - Is it possible to add the Custom POIs that load in Extras to be moved to Favorites so that a Voice Command could be given?

I have a Nuvi 1410. I have loaded the CN North America map onto my SD card but there are no POIs. do i need to load a separate file? if so is the standard POI set available somewhere? My original map was a Middle East one so none of the POIs are relevant. Thanks D

Hi I am traveling to Italy soon. . I am hoping someone out here has some garmen downloads to make the driving trip a little easier. I will be traveling to Sorrento, Pompeii, Lecce, Oriveto, Cinque Terre and then to Germany. Rotthenburg, Dachau and Munich. Any information someone has would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

After looking through FAQ on voices I have a question.

Does TTS Voice Editor handle TTS3 voices?

I am considering a 3597 which uses TTS3 voices.
I always enjoy modifying the voices. I do not believe the 3597 will use the TTS voices.

I just installed the Cracker Barrel POI file. With the file there were two sound files ... one a wav and the other an mp3. With the 2460 I understand that I need to use the wav. How do I get the file to load and use with the POI? I would like to create a sound file to alert for the Rest Areas, too. Unless there is one already.

Now that the 2797 is a year old, it's possible to get a decent deal on a refurb, so I bought one. Since GE had just recently started letting Mac users install maps on their computers in addition to the gps devices from within GE, I had lost some of my antagonism to Express.

I've been considering buying the City Navigator Europe maps for an upcoming trip to England, but it's pretty pricey at $99. Has anyone here used these maps? Are they worth buying?
