GTM25 vs GTM35

I read an older post that started out wanting to compare the two, but was revised to GTM25/26. So, the question is still unanswered. The second 2460LMT I traded for yesterday has a GTM25, and my primary has a GTM35. What is the difference? I have read conflicting comments on other sites.

TIA

Voltage

When the original GTM25 that came with my 2597 started acting up with an intermittant power issue, I asked Garmin this question since GTM35's were plentiful on the internet. I wanted to make sure I could transfer my Total Traffic subscription to it.

Garmin advised the only real difference was the voltage level delivered to the Nuvi. As I recall, the GTM35 supplied a slightly -lower- voltage than the GTM25. Traffic receiver functions were exactly the same according to the tech I spoke with.

Reply from Garmin

Here is the reply from Garmin support. On the one hand there is no significant difference in performance, but then again there is.

"Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

There is no difference in appearance and no significant performance increase between the GTM 25, 35 and GTM 26, 36.

The GTM 26, 36 is our newest generation of traffic cable that has recently gone through an internal redesign to make it more efficient both cost and performance wise."

Notice "no significant performance increase" then later "redesign ... more efficient ... performance wise."

I read previous content where a user was able to find the traffic provider. Where is that data found on the GPS? There were two providers listed ... Clear Channel and Navteq.

BTW ... Those of us who live in western WA are happy to be basking in the sun after weeks of playing with a rubber ducky.

Traffic Providers

The GTM25 and GTM35 that come with free traffic comes with a Navteq lifetime traffic subscription.
Clear Channel is an optional subscription that can be purchased. You can have both subscriptions active but the Nuvi will use the strongest signal available in your current location. It could be Navteq or Clear Channel.

To view your subscription, connect the Nuvi to your cigarette lighter socket and wait until the traffic icon appears. Now touch settings>traffic and your subscription information should appear.

Viewing the FM Table
Power your device on by connecting it to the GTM traffic cable
Touch View Map
Touch Speed
Touch and hold the middle of the MPH Speedometer
Touch Next until the Blue banner says either “FM Table, GTM Tables, GTM Info” *
You can now see how many stations are broadcasting in your current area and which provider.

If you want to reset the table
Touch Reset
Touch Yes
Touch Quit
Touch Back to return to the main menu
By resetting it may take a little while to update the traffic table.
