Garmin talk

Hi, does anyone know if and when Garmin is going to post a fix for the new DST for the Nuvi 350? They seem to have some fixes for other Garmin's but have forgotten about the Nuvi 350. I have asked Garmin about this but have not received an email with regards to this yet.

Hello, I just stumbled into this web site and am overwhelmed, what a great site this is. I have been reading the past posts and am unable to come up with the answer to my question, so I thought someone here may be able to help. On my Nuvi 350 when I go to one of my favorites it is listed as being 1.4 miles away.

My sneaking suspicion is "arrival time" never factors in stoplights or stop signs. Assuming traffic is moving at or around the posted speed limit, I find the time is fairly accurate for interstate driving, but never accurate for surface streets.

I wanted to load maps for some local mountains where I go hiking. I learned from Garmin's website that they sell the topo maps for $116.

I was wondering if there is any other way to do it for free. I've added some POI's in the mountain areas. But it would be nice if there are some basic road/trail maps for the mountain since now it's entirely blank.

Just got an i3.

Does the i3 take blank micro-SD cards OK?

Does loading a POI file give a list and checkbox (to show) like the other POIs have?

I'd like to be able to load more POI's into my C330. Right now I'm about at capacity (1.52 MB), and I get capacity error messages if I try to load more than that amount. I've heard that the spoken language files are about 1 MB each, but I can't figure out how to remove them. When I hook up my GPS to the computer, I never see the C330 as a drive listed under "my computer".

Does anyone know of where I can find the Lowe' POI's that includes the address and phone numbers of each of the stores? It would be handy to have the phone number to call ahead if in an area near a Lowe's store. I did find one file for Lowe's USA but it does not display the phone number on my Garmin Nuvi 680 until I am practically in the parking lot!

I have a Garmin StreetPilot 2730 and I use for work and pleasure trips. I am considering creating files for the apartmetn complexes that I drive to for work. I would like to have telephone number(s) and sometimes things like door codes that allow me to access to the building. Would I be better off creating these as MapSource Favorites or Custom POI Files?

One the problems with my c550 is after the last update the icons (bmp?) that I created no longer appear on the 550. Only a grey dot. Do you have that problem when using your program?

I subscribed to SaversGuide through Garmin and I'm not happy. It seems that every time I try to use it the restaurant doesn't honor it anymore or the restaurant is out of business. I hope I'm able to get $50 savings before the year is up.

What do others think about SaversGuide?

I finally figured out that the DVD is essential to making the Tourguide that we want. Having read a topic line about the successful making of one of these including mp3 and jpg. I am really loooking forward to Garmin delivering the goods. I will then become the bane of the site with all the questions in the world about how to get it going.

Pam developed problems with her C330 receiving sat signals...I called Garmin, they put me through two simple fix routines which did not work...the CS rep say "nope that's a hardware problem, send it on back and we'll fix it or replace it"...immediately issued me an RMA/Warranty # and gave me their UPS # so the shipping is free...That is great customer service!!!

I have found the FM transmission option is less than appealing, though better than most the quality still leaves much to be desired.

I'm new to the GPS arena but looks like this is right place to ask my question. I'm interested to buy a Garmin GPS but would like to hear suggestion and recommendation from the experts here. I just want to have some basic features such as:
* turn-by-turn voice navigation
* heads up and other views
* 3.5" touch screen
* POI should include grocery stores etc.

At some point I thought I heard that someone was comming out with a different audio file for the c330. Like Mr. T or other funny sounding voices.... is there anything like that out there?

If I download nroute will I be able to transfer routes onto my Nuvi 660?

Costco has the Nüvi 350 on sale for $349.99 after $130 coupon. I believe there is a 5% surcharge for non-members.

In previous discussions, I mentioned that the c530 was only seen by the PC as a set of drives (for use with POI Loader, for example, and could not be used with nRoute on a PC as a GPS. Garmin techs had confirmed this.

I've downloaded a large POI for Starbucks locations in the US.

Here's my question: what's the benefit of this POI file, given that my Garmin c330 map already displays lots of Starbucks. I assume it's because POI files can be updated constantly and the Garmin maps seem to updated yearly. Is this the main advantage? Or am I missing something?
