Not happy with SaversGuide

I subscribed to SaversGuide through Garmin and I'm not happy. It seems that every time I try to use it the restaurant doesn't honor it anymore or the restaurant is out of business. I hope I'm able to get $50 savings before the year is up.

What do others think about SaversGuide?

I had not purchased it

I had not purchased it myself, but have heard similar. Decided not to buy it based on reviews from various sites.

Not happy with SaversGuide

I have heard nothing positive about Savers Guide on this and other sites. I think I wll pass on the feature. After reading the terms it states you have to leave 15% or greater tip BEFORE the discount applies so all you would save would be the tip? I also know the hotel savings seems to be a nightmare as well as you have to book well in advance to get any savigs and this is only if the hotel accepts it and if they are below 80% occupancy.

I concur. Too many restrictions. There are easier ways to gain these type of perks. ie: Hotel rewards programs. entertainment books sold by non-profit fundraising groups etc.

I may write to Garmin and

I may write to Garmin and ask for a refund. I can't believe how worthless it has been.

I'll Pass

I have not used the savers guide but if it is like all the other expensive coupon books I have bought in the past, I will pass. I end up spending $40 or $50 on coupons only to use about $10 worth in a year. Because there are none of the qualifying places around or I forget all about even having them.

Thanks for the warning.

SaversGuide

I live in New Jersey and have used it once without a problem. Received 20% off our breakfast bill at a local Bakery. I have checked where ever the entertainment guide book coupons are used the eateries will honor the SaversGuide Card. After reading the other reviews I guess I am luck that so far it works. Not sure I will purchase it next year.

SaversGuide

I hear similar comments - not widely accepted, lots of restrictions etc etc. I find that AAA is about the best deal going. FWIW

Officer I'm sorry I was going the wrong way on that one-way street but my GPS told me to turn left ... Oh, I'm still getting a ticket, okay then the GPS will see ya in court!

These savings are based upon

These savings are based upon the Entertainment book. I didn't see any benefits from the book, let alone paying retail for a coupon book. You can buy the coupon book for about $35.

It is a waste of money. You can get better deals with the Entertainment Book

AAA

I have always found AAA works great for hotels. The Entertainment book is also ok, but it is big and I never have it with me when I am near a place that would honor the coupon.

Glad to have seen this

Glad to have seen this thread. I am a gadget guy who usually gets many of the add-ons and this is one I will not take advantage of thanks to the info provided here.

Savers Guide

I saw it at Best Buy for 49 bucks...but it expired at the end of the year...How often do they put these out?

new but wanting to learn...Thanks, David K.

I guess it is just me

But I really don't care about saving 10-15%. For one, it isn't much money that you save and is usually a headache or LOTS of restrictions and loops to get it.

Besides, my company pays for everything anyways.

Very Worth Buying

I purchased the Garmin Saversguide and have found it very worthwhile. It is great having all the places that you can use the card right there on your Nuvi. No coupon books or loose coupons to carry along and/or loose. As long as you have your Nuvi ( which is always and everywhere for me) I have my virtual coupons. I have used it many, many places and saved hundreds of dollars. Many places we have gone back over and over and received the discount each time. You can't do that with the regular Entertainment Book. The Saversguide is put out by the Entertainment Book people so you know it is good. I have been buying those every year for 20 years.

Annually

The Garmin Saversguide is put out annually just like the Entertainment Book. It is good for 1 year. The Entertainment Book people produce it.

Tipping

To the guy complaining about leaving a 15% tip - you are one cheap guy ! One should always tip 15 - 20% if service was acceptable regardless of using the Saversguide or not. Restaurant & Bar staff live on their tips. You try living on the $2.46 an hour wage they receive without their tips !

Get out More

You need to get out of the house more. The Saversguide & Entertainment Books can save you hundreds of dollars per year. My wife and I figure we save $1,000 per year with the Entertainment Book alone.

I agree with hdtravel. I

I agree with hdtravel. I always tip based on the non-discounted amount. The server should not be shorted by the restaurant giving a discount.
We haven't used it yet, but my son bought it where he works at his employee discount, so he paid about $10. I would think we would get at least that much back.

tipping

a bit of the subject, but you should tip by the wait staff performance not the price of the meal. I have given ppl tips from 0% to 200%. I say to myself, what was he/she worth and how did they contribute to my eating experience.

Yes, I was referring to

Yes, I was referring to acceptable or better service.
However, I will say one thing. Sometimes bad service is not the servers fault. Sometimes the restaurant management will spread them too thin and set them up for bad service. This should be taken into account also.

As long as my server let's me know that say the kitchen is backed up or something similar, I'm O.K. with that. It's when communication stops that I have the problem...TELL ME WHAT'S HAPPENING and I will be much more understanding.
