Garmin talk

Has anyone loaded information from a GPX file where the phone number / address goes when you click on a favorite. I would like to add notes for some things and some goecache information notes. If so how did you do it? I have a GPX file with the description field filled in.

I just received my 660 and am wondering how I get the free trial for the FM traffic feature. Also I am unable to pair my LG VX 8100 cell phone with the 660 bluetooth. Anyone have any suggestions. Do I need a microphone to use the bluetooth feature on the 660 to do handsfree?

Does anyone know how often Garmin releases updates for European maps? I have the Nuvi 370 and am in France right now. The unit works wonderful here however they are some new road construction that is throwing off navigation a bit

Changes made from version 2.4.1 to 2.4.2:
Added .gpi file support for code pages other than 1252. This will resolve issues with bad characters in Eastern European and Asian languages.

My webupdater use to automatically recognize my garmin when plugged with the usb. But now it dose not, so now i have to manually check for updates everytime. Anyone with a solution?

Ok, perhaps someone can explain to me how Garmin keeps you from installing maps on more then one GPS. Does it connect to the internet (in the background) and flag the product key as being used or checks to see if it has already been used? That is the only way I see that they could keep you from doing it. I noticed that it said that internet access was required.

Can you delete all but one of the tts files and have the system still work? i.e. I don't need french, spanish, or anything but english.

While on the highway today and on vacation my C330 displayed a red bar at the top of the screen. (Where the green bar typically is to display your next turn.) Within the red bar it said something along the lines of “warning 2 kph” at the same time the unite would make this beeping sound every second. It eventually went a way but it was annoying.

Quick question for the seasoned users here. My Nuvi370 came with different power plugs for the unit. Can I just use the correct plug while in Europe, or do I need to use the travel converters I picked up a little while ago? If you need specifics, I will be travelling throughout Hungary.

Garmin told me on Monday that the new CD was on backorder for two weeks, but I received it today...thank god they were wrong...lol.

The service (which I'm trying out on a trial basis, does not seem to be consistent. I could be in bumper-to-bumper traffic with no indication from the service of any current slow-downs. But it will invariably tell me that there is slow traffic several miles up the road.

Hi, just got my first GPS [Garmin c330]. This may be the wrong place to ask this, and if its wrong excuse me.

My question is I regerested my unit 3 days ago. They asked me for serial # and Registration code. I have a long Unlock code [25 numbers and letters] What is this and what do I unlock.

I have a Nuvi 350 and 360 and want to buy one map up-date.Is it possible to load one up-date on 2 GPS units?

How do the POI's work on the Nuvi 660? If I select a red light camera POI, it appears that it works by alerting me as I near the intersection in question. If I select, say a food POI list, it does not appear that any type of message appears as I approach known food locations. Are these two different types of POI lists that operate differently?

Anyone know how I can get rid of an mp3 sound file that I used for a POI, but then deleted? It shows up in the list of mp3 files but I can't find it anywhere on the Nuvi 350 drive. I have also deleted all of the POI's.

I have a nuvi350 and would like to update the maps. Just what is the process involved? What is the lock code? Do I need special software? Is it possible? As you can tell I've never done this and am just wondering about the process. Thanks from the new guy.

Having lived in my Chicago area suburb for over 20 years, I was shocked to hear "Turn left on CR-15W"... I've never heard of that road! It is not labeled anywhere on street signs or on local maps (except the Lake County Highway dept.). Traveling a mile or two up the road, it shows that I'm no longer on CR-15W... but Buffalo Grove Road! The road has been here for 15-20 years under that name.

Last night I updated my Nuvi with the 2008 NT update and as a part of the update it copied 1+ GB of *.img files onto my laptop. Are these temp files and hence can be removed to free up the space?
