Garmin talk

Thinking of upgrading to a Nuvi 750 or 780 for the Routes feature. (Planning a longish driving / sightseeing trip this summer.)

I have read a few reviews, but none of them answer my specific questions about the Routes function. I am especially interested in using MapSource for laying out the route(s) and downloading to the Nuvi.

There is a store that I want to make a POI of but I would have to pull each address seperately from the website which would be very time consuming. Is there a way to find them a import the data to make a POI or is just one of those things that you have to put in the time to make?

I got a 250W that has canada/us maps and would like to copy it to a 200W that a friend of mine has which was bout in asia and does not have us/can maps. My question is that if i connect mine to PC copy every thing to PC and then connect his 200W and past for PC to his 200W will if work or will it messup 200W.

I feel really dumb here. I'm usually pretty good at figuring this stuff out, but I know when I'm officially confused and now I am.

I am new to this site. I'd appreciate any help I can get. My Nuvi 350 works fine when plugged in to the car 12v but it will not hold a charge when I plug it into the wall. I assume the battery needs replacing.

Hello everybody, new to this site, and trying to download some poi's to my Garmin Nuvi 350, but can't seem to get them over to my GPS. What do I need to install or have or do ?

Started working in South Boston a couple weeks ago and though I know how to get to and from work I have been using my C580 with MSNdirect and have found very helpful.. If you've ever driven near Boston you'll know it's notorious for traffic jams, accidents etc.. The C580 has been really good in automatically routing me around slow or stopped traffic..

I have just purchased my first gps a Garmin nuvi 360. I have been in the process of loading some poi files onto an sd card. My question is is there anything I have to do to make them show up on the 360 after I put the card in or will it automatically see them on the card?

i have loaded pois on my 2gb sd card i have a garmin c33o but when i place the sd card into the unit it nothing happens and i cant get my pois am i doing something wrong or is is not possible to use a sd card with pois on it help please thanks mike

It works similar to the method mentioned by “GDFAINI” in an earlier thread hooking the Nuvi to a PC and sliding the Power Switch to the Lock position and then “Safely Removing the USB Mass Storage Device”.

i recently downloaded the red alerts file and have set it up with bitmap icon and mp3 alert. However i noticed that when I am listening to a music mp3 and I drive close to a traffic light, I get the red flashing screen alerting me but the alert mp3 file doesn't play. Instead, the mp3 player skips to the next song! and if i have another alert, it skips to the next song again.

On my trip from Hollywood Fl. to my home in MA. I have been keeping track of bean bag vs. windshield mount. The windshield mounts are used in every 9 out of 10 cars and trucks with their power cords hanging in the window, that I have been able to see. I am on 95 North in VA for the night. Also Garmin is the most used GPS.

I noticed that MSN has updates on traffic, etc. Is it worth buying the antenna and subscribing or is there something better. John

Has anyone removed the preloaded software for MSN related functionality on their unit? From the diagnostic mode inventory of the unit you can see the MSN software code, which corresponds to a large file in the Remote Software file in the Garmin file in the unit. Don't remember the exact number but if you're never going to use MSN traffic would there be a problem removing it?

I would like to display the poi's on my nuvi 750 map when I am driving. Can anyone out there tell the best way to do this?

Bean Bag Mount and Slippage

I have found that using "Removable Glue Dots" on the bottom of the Bean Bag Mount helps the bag with more traction. This helped my bag from slipping when I had to make a sharp turn in a hurry. My Garmin bag has flown of the dash 3 or 4 times in the past.

I was here a week ago about the disaster of having Garmin allow me to delete the files of the Garmin unit forcing me to send it to them. I had it shipped express 2 day and it got there I think the 17th of April. Today is the 25th and no word, no email, no phone call. Should I call them up to see if they got it?

Anyone else here notice odd behavior with TMC traffic and Garmin travel time prediction lately?

Did anyone have an issue with their NUVI 350 or any other GPS unit on 4/24/08. My GPS unit worked yesterday for only 1 hour. In the morning it searched all day. In the middle of the day it worked for an hour. Then last night back to not working. Any thoughts from the folks out there?

Any help or feedback would be great.
