MapSource 2009 Update via Download

Can the downloaded 2009 map update from Garmin for my GPSr be used to update the maps on my PC used by Mapsource? While I am waiting for my download to complete over a mediocre broadband connection, I have bee searching a bit here and on Garmin but can't find a difinitive answer to this question. The 'Map download users guide' has instructions to load to you GPSr but that's it. I was curious if MapSource update came along for the ride or if something special has to be done to update the maps on my PC for MapSource.
Thanks in advance.

I just finished installing the 2009 download to my Nuvi 780 and it automatically installed the new map to mapsource as well!

Hmmm

Great question. Taking it one step further, I would suspect a number of people would like to take the opportunity of trying Mapsource for the first time as they get perhaps their first DVD with maps. Given that the DVD costs $10 for shipping, a number of people might, without thinking, choose to download without realizing what they might be giving up.

Hmmm is right...

I already had MapSource so that was the genesis of my question and I was only looking to update the map set on my PC. But you bring up a good question about whether those without MapSource would get that program in the download.

MapSource was indeed

MapSource was indeed updated. Also, MapSource now has access to both the 2008 and 2009 maps. It is kind intersting to flip back and forth between the two versions to look for diffences. Alas, there are no map changes in my neighborhood, but a fair number of POIs have been altered.
