Garmin talk

We are newbies to the GPS world but not to the computer world. We have downloaded the POI loader and the POI file (state parks) but the file will not transfer to our Garmin. Have now tried for several hours. What are we doing wrong?

I noticed on over cast days that I can drive several miles before my 750 will find satalites. Otherwise it will operate with in seconeds on clear days.

I have not been there a while and was surprised to see new icons. Funniest one I have seen so far is knuckles.

Can it be added in a poi for an alert, the distance and time of the day, example: to avoid a trafic jam at a specific spot, like a shoping center at 3 pm or a bridge at 6:30 am...

I am running into the problem that the POI files are not loaded to the NUevi 660. New POI software downloaded. But the errror message tells me that the device is not ready. I have access to the Garmin through my computer, deleted files to make sure the mem is OK.
Has anybody had the same problem? any help?

I, like many others on here, have had a lot of problems with my Nuvi 780. It's been taking 4-6 minutes to "load maps". I have updated the software many times to no avail. Yesterday I wrote Garmin and told them of the issue. They wanted me to update the software again. I already had the latest so I told them that wouldn't help. They wrote back and want me to send the unit to them.

I bought my nuvi 750 last January for just over $500.00. I see they are now on sale for under $200.00, a 60% drop in price in less then one year.
The low end models sold last January for around $200.00 and today are still holding at around $150.00, a drop of 25%.

Just got my weekly Costco mailing and the Nuvi 750 is priced at $299 and then a $100 discount for a price of $199.00 plus taxes and shipping (yes, they are charging something like %5.99 for shipping & handling).

Price started today and only good for a short time!!!

Is there a way to hide mp3's on my SD card so the Zumo 550 won't see them? I have a 16gb card and right now I have 994 mp3's on it. I have several thousand mp3's. I want to move them off my HD and on to the SD card. If I load all 2,346 mp3's on the card, the Zumo 550 only sees the top 1,000. So all my songs that are on the bottom 1,346 isn't being read or played.

I just received a Navigon 2000S as a promotion for buying four tires for my SUV.

Is there a simple way to geocode photos for use on a Garmin nüvi? I checked some of the Panoramio JPEGs and they don't have any EXIF info. Where are the coordinates stored?

Ok, Can somebody explain what a Geocoder is and do I need one to create *.csv files to upload into my Garmin

My Nuvi has the 2008 Maps on it, i registred my device with Garmin and there was no update available for my device, so my question is where do i get these new maps, Ebay or ??

Today my street pilot c330 occasionally makes a short beep which appears not to be affected by the volume level, nor has any pattern that I can make out. This beep is different from any I've heard before. No change on the screen or in operation is detected. The sky is very overcast ???

Updated Bluetooth 3.40 available on Garmin WebUpdater for Garmin 7XX series. Everything seems to work fine but remember you have to pair the phone and the Nuvi again after doing the update. Mine was working fine but thought maybe I would see something added but nothing I have noted yet.

I am a new gps user, trying to understand POI's. Are these added to the map as map points (part of the map, like cities, etc) or as waypoints?
I use Mapsource version 6.11 and Garmin POI Loader.
I load the csv file in POI Loader to the MapSource option. The software shows a successful operation, but I do not see anything on the map in MapSource??
What am I missing?

I just purchased a nuvi 255W and am very excited as this technology is very new to me. I'm traveling to the Orlando/Kissimmee area from St. Louis in a month and would like suggestions from anyone on what additional POIs would be most helpful for my trip. Thanks.
