Using routes

I have a Vista HCX, When I create a route using my waypoints (e.g. home -> library -> bank -> home), and try to navigate the route using the "follow road" option, the unit keeps trying to send me to the closest section of the route instead of my next destination. For example, when I'm at the library, it tells me to go home instead of to the bank.
Can I set options so this does not happen?

What maps do you have loaded?
If you don't have City Navigator loaded, then the unit is likely trying to route off the basemap which is not very detailed. Thus it will direct you to the closest major road which will likely also result in it directing you to the closest destination since it doesn't know what section of the route you intend to be on.
Using routes
I do have City Navigator loaded. Maybe it has something to do with Auto-Routing?
