question on the navigation map of the 7x5 series
Hi folks,
Just want to check if you have the same issue with your unit. On my 660, I used to zoom out the map when navogating on a long route in order only to show the upcoming town, state, etc... It worked fine.

Garmin GPs vs iPhone screen resolution
I was in NYC with time on my hands and so dropped into the Apple Store and looked at the new iPhone.
I got one of the fellows to walk me through the GPS functions of the iPhone and the one thing that struck me above all (I had my Garmain Nuvi 650 with me and was using it in the pedestrian mode) was the fantastic screen resolution.

This is my first posting! I use my C330 on my motorcycle and don't want to install another lighter socket. Has anyone hard wired the C330 without the 12 volt adapter?
I think this is a GREAT sight! I plan to use it alot!

New User needs some help and friendly advice
I am new to this web site and just bought my Garmin 255W. I downloaded the Combined Rest Area file to Windows, and have (evidently) loaded it to my GPS. When I ran the simulator past one of the rest areas, I see an indicator of "04" and a single chime went off based on my proximity alert distance. What I can't figure out is how to set the BMP icon and the audable alert.

Rest Stop Alerts Don't Alet
I've tried all the suggestions that I've received on this forum plus a few more and the only way I can get the rest stop alert to work is when I program a particular rest stop as a destination or waypoint. Then, instead of beeping at 3,000 ft as I programmed, it beeps at the entrance to the stop. Any suggestions.
I'm using a Nuvi 260.

SDHC card readers
When I purchased a higher cap. mem card (SDHC) I discovered that my old card reader would not read/write to it. I discovered Amazon is selling a USB SDHC reader made by Chitek Corp. for $1.15 each. If anyone needs to upgrade do it now. I bought two and they function just fine. Jim

Custom POI
Hello, this is the first time I am downloading and installing custom POIs. I have downloaded the redlight cameras and pulled out 68 of them and then uploaded them onto Micro SD card. When I go into the Extras and click on Custom POIs I only see 50 of the 68 why?

RECALCULATING ALERTS!!
Hello:
I just want to know if there is any way to change the "recalculating alerts", when there is traffic on my route usually recalculates when there is a delay for 28mins +/- and I would like to change the time to recalculate when lets say there is a 15min delay.
Any help???
Thanks: FRGG

mapsource coordinates don't match GeoCoder.ca
Hello All,
I was trying to write a POI file (.cvs) and was looking into some coordinates. I set a favorite location from my garmin nuvi 260 and transferred it to mapsource. In mapsource, the coordinates are:
N40 32.357
W79 50.105.
If I look up the address in GeoCoder.ca I get the following coordinates (which are correct):
Latitude: 40.538327 °
Longitude: -79.836811 °

Voice Navigation
I posted this the other day with 0 responses. Has anybody used GPS'S that use voice commands do they really work. The only voice prompted device I've used was a cell phone and it was always a bit flakey. You say (call home) and you end up having to yell it 2 or 3 time for it work

GPS /Blackberry
Is it possible to integrate a Garmin GPS with a Blackberry curve so I can get GPS coordinates on my Blackberry. I know the Blackberry has GPS but it is another service you have to sign up for. I just wanted to integrate the two units together.

TTS added to nuvi 5xx crossover update v3.40
For those here that may have one of the nuvi 5xx series crossover units (likely not many, going by the lack of questions/comments), TTS voice support has been added with the newest firmware v3.40. It's quite rare for Garmin to add new features to existing units so this is a plus for both Garmin (customer relations) and the end-user (customer satisfaction).

Kenwood DNX head units (Garmin)
Has anyone tried to buy the latest maps from Garmin and then just load them onto an SD Card and plug it into their in-dash Kenwood DNX (7120/8120) unit and have it work?

How NOTto update firmware in Nuvi 760
My 760 is still running FW v3.4, and I have no real issue with it. I need to update the map (still running 2008 map) and at the same time would like to update the voices too.
Now I've read all the horror stories here about updating the FW resulting in stuttering. How can I update map and voices without updating firmware?
