I started having a problem with my touch screen a few days ago. When I turn the Nuvi on, it's difficult or impossible to get the touch screen to respond. The strange thing is that later in a journey everything is fine again. And then the next time I start it, the problem is back again.
I've tried resetting, I've tried re-calibrating. Anyone ever come across this before? Any ideas what I should try?
How old is your unit...........

and what ver of firmware is installed on it?
Have you dropped your unit or has it fallen off the mount or has it be subjected to any heavy vibration?
There may be a loose cable inside and as you drive, the vibration makes contact again.
A 770 is pretty easy to open up and take a look, or you could call Garmin support, and if still under warranty, they will send you a refurbished replacement.
how long have you had it and
how long have you had it and where did you purchase from. a friend had a similar problem but it was almost new and he exchanged it for another. Costco has a pretty liberal return/exchange policy...
good luck

Thanks for the reply.
I got the unit last August, from Dell. It hasn't been dropped (yet!).
It looks like I will have to give Garmin a call.
Poor multitasking?
Do you have a lot of POI's or MP3's? I have found with my 760 that it is sluggish to respond to the touchscreen for the first couple moments after boot up. It's busy indexing POI's and MP3's for a little bit after bootup. Removing my 4GB SD card with the MP3's shortenened this sluggish startup behavior. The other thing that seemed to help with this was regularly clearing the track log. It's worth a try.

That's definitely worth a try. I do have quite a few MP3s and POIs. Thanks!!
