I have a couple of new vehicles I made from 3D
models found on the web:
1) 67 Shelby GT500
2) Shelby Cobra
3) Airwolf (Bell 222 Helicopter)
Grab 'em here....

Thanx to Aarrgghh for the primer on making these
.SRF files!!!
I'm hoping to release an application I wrote to
automatically pull ALL of the pictures together,
add the alpha layer, and write everything to a
PNG file which you just take to the Nuvi utilites
site to get the SRF file. When I'm sure it works
well, I'll post it.
Mike
Is there
a preview page?
Mike
Thanks
I'll be interested in the gt500 - plan to put it on my son's gpsr
Thanks for the 222!
Thanks for the Bell 222!

Nice Cobra
The Cobra is cool! Thanks.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Shelby Cobra - my FAV car
The Shelby Cobra is my favorite car of all time. Coincidentally, I was driving behind an original one last Sunday. Almost caused a wreck by watching the car - not the road!!

yw... glad to contribute.
BTW: If anyone can find a 3DS Max file for the Shelby GT500E 'Eleanor', I'll be happy to convert that too.. Actually I'm looking for the Astin-Martin Vanquish too....
ABTW: Just posted the Star Wars Snowspeeder....
Mike
.
Thank you...
Any chance...
of a motor coach like a Prevost or a Van Hool?
A couple more....
Ok, I think I finally have my conversion software
running, so I fixed up the older versions of the GT500, the 'Airwolf' and the snowspeeder and added a few more.
67ShelbyGT500 - Couldn't find an Eleanor for 3DS Max, so iI used this brown GT500
Airwolf - Bell 222 from the show 'Airwolf' - guns and all. I have enlarged this one a little from the previous version
Corvette Z06 - Yellow Corvette Z06
MustangVert - 1996-1998 Blue Mustang convertible with roll bar
Snow Speeder - A ship from "Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back"
I am hoping to release the application soon, maybe tonight. It will take 36 400x400 bitmaps of the car in 3D, and 36 350x350 bitmaps of the ar from the top, and add an alpha layer to give it transparency, then resize it to 2880 x 150 to be converted to .SRF
Enjoy!
Mike
Hopefully have an Aston Martin Vanquish tonight
Still looking for a GT500E Eleanor
thanks
Thanks for the link!

Could you make a green 97 Z28 Camaro? I have a Z28 and love to have one for my GPS symbol. Looked all over the internet for one and cannot find one.

While we are at it, can I put in a request for a blue Acura TSX
is there any way to make the
is there any way to make the airwolf model bigger? it's so small on my screen compared with the learjet, can barely see it. thanks.
Sorry....
I'd love to have the time to do requests, but I just don't.
I had a couple of free nights here with my family out of town to make the ones I did, but my wife and daughter have to come first in my life, and working these files through Blender/3DS Max can take a lot of time if they need fixing, or converting. It can even be difficult just to FIND the models for free.
If you can get someone to work up the bitmap files
for me, I'd be happy to finalize them and get them to you. In most cases, this finalization process is pretty quick now with the app I wrote.
A) Find the 3D model on the internet, and use Blender (free 3D program), or 3DS MAX, or some other 3D program to output the following:
1) 36 shots from above and behind with the car rotated from 0degrees to 350deg in steps of 10deg . These shots should be 400x400 pixels and should use a color for the background that is unique and can be keyed out as transprent. I used green (0,255,0) which worked for most of the models because they didn't have much green in them. This color is also the only color my app will use at the moment besides blue (0,0,255) and Red (255,0,0)
2) 36 shots from directly above with the car rotated from 0degrees to 350deg in steps of 10deg . These shots should be 350x350 pixels and should use the same background color as the above pics.
I can probably write up a quick tutorial on how to do this if people want it
Again, I'm really sorry that I don't have time to do requests. I hope you understand...
Mike
that's ok.. thanks for your
that's ok.. thanks for your time! I like the model, I have a feeling it works better on a non-widescreen though

Hi Mike,
I moved you over to the "List of Custom Vehicles" page and included the pictures. If you post them over there, it would be easier to have one parking garage
Thanks for making these. They look good.

Of course, we all understand. I have great admiration for you techies who are able to do all this. It is amazing to my that you can come up with all of these programs. Thank you.
As promised....
The Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, and the Flintstones car are up on my Google site...
Enjoy!
BTW Bob... The Shelby Cobra WAS my favorite car until Gone in 60 Seconds introduced me to the Shelby GT-500E..

I found a better method of resampling for my app, so I updated all my vehicles, and they look better, not as blocky.
I will try to have a new version of the app up soon with the new sampling, AND I it will save straight to an SRF file now!!!
Note: preview page is next!

Hope that this helps

While I decided to check out the moved link, it led me to the SMART cars---I love them! But, it was Mike's original post and work that got me that as well as a couple of his. Thanks again!
