Garmin Software Updates - Real?
Every now and then when I log on to Garmin's Dashboard support page, it says there is a "software update" for my 855. I dutifully follow the directions, and the webpage will then say "up to date."
But the firmware versions, traffic receiver software version, GPS chipset version, etc. remain the same.
Are these updates actually doing anything? If so, what?

Nuvi 750 won't turn off - until battery dies
My garmin nuvi 750 stopped working a while back. When plugged in, the Garmin logo shows for 6 seconds, then the screen goes blank for 2 seconds, logo appears again for 6 seconds, and goes blank again for 2 seconds. It keeps doing this until the battery dies. It won't acquire satellites nor can I turn it off.

Can't Garmin get anything right the first time around ?
Looking at their new series and the nüvi50LM and what's in the box category there's a choice of two preloaded map versions.
1- City Navigator® NT data for lower 49 states, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Bahamas or
2- City Navigator® NT data for lower 49 states, Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Bahamas

Custom POI Order
I have installed several different POI files on my 1490LMT. Each time, I give the file a unique name to keep my POIs separated. The all show up in the \Poi directory and each file has a .gpi extension. The files (or folders) will appear individually on the Garmin in the Extras...Custom POIs. My question is if there is a way to arrange these files to appear in a specific order.

Garmin Traffic Questions
1. Does anyone have a list of the traffic channels that maps to the FM frequencies? The GTM Status page lists channels, but not the radio frequency. Because of frequent channel changes, I haven't been able to map this.

POI Notification
I have uploaded some poi files to my Garmin 2360 using the POI Loader in manual mode, set distance at 5280', but I don't get notified of any of the poi's locations when going by them. What am I doing wrong? (The files are in Extras on a memory card.)
Thanks

Traffic "persistence"
How long should traffic info remain in your GPS after leaving a coverage area?
I drove from Denver, Colorado to Durango, Colorado the other night, and even when I was in Durango, I still had traffic info from Denver! Of course, it didn't show anything for Durango, but I could tell what roads were messed up back in Denver, several hundred miles away!

2640LMT with EcoRoute HD bluetooth pairing question
I have a new 2640LMT and I bought the ecoroute HD to monitor real time mileage in my motor home. I have found that the RT mileage display in my Prius helps to keep me aware of my 'foot heaviness', and increases my economy.

nuvi 1690 bug in Favorites list
Anyone with a 1690 notice a bug when scrolling the favorites? Open Favorites. Select All Favorites. Scroll down the list, twice. On the second scroll the screen will flash and returns you to the top of the list. After this, the list scrolls without further screen flashes. If you close the favorites list and re-open the favorites list the bug repeats.

3790 custom POI mp3 to wav file problem
Recenlty uploaded to my 3790 red light and speed cameras custom POI files. Using the instructions provided from the path www.poi-factory.com/node/25730. I was able to upload successfully the csv and bmp file but the wav file will not upload. I know what the problem is but not sure how to fix it.

Nuvi 265WT reporting wrong location - anyone seen this before?
We pulled out the GPS yesterday to get to a place we hadn't been to before and it reported that we were in a totally different location - at least 15 miles from where we actually were. It also kept losing satellite reception and/or displaying "poor satellite reception".

Garmin Street Pilot 2620
I've recently took my 2620 out of mothballs, and I tried to look at its files the same way I can do with my nuvi 760 & 1490T. When I connect the 2620 to my PC, I get the sound indicating it has been recognized, but there is no listing of it as a drive under My Computer, and I don't know how to look at the files. Is there a way to look at my 2620 files?
Thanks for any help

nuvi units and route input from BaseCamp or Mapsource
I was about to purchase a 3790 until I read that it would not accept routes from the mapping programs.
An inquiry to Garmin CS about units that would accept routes was responded to with the statement that the 3700 series were the only products that lacked this feature.

How to Red Banner 1690
My Nuvi 650 died, but I had a poi factory file for red lights which flashed the banner at the top of the screen red.
My replacement is a nuvi 1690. I updated it POI over the weekend. The audio alert works fine but the banner does not flash red. How can I make it flash red for alerts? Thanks.

States won't load in my Garmin Street Pilot
Hi,
My grand daughter got ahold of our Garmin Street Pilot c330 and ever since when it says "enter state" it remains bland. I have reset the unit and reloaded the software and still no states. When I try to type in the state it goes to another page with, you guessed it, no states. Can anyone give me any more ideas or is it over for me?

I must be getting old
My cell phone - it only knows how to make phone calls.
No internet, no smarts, no apps.
I can go several days without charging it. At work, everyone is constantly charging their "smart" phones.
My GPS is a 750 Nuvi - it just
- helps get me where I am going
- finds the nearest Subway on my route to eat lunch
- warns me of speed cameras (thanks to POI Factory)

load poi in to garmin 1300
Can someone help me figure out how to load the rer area poi into a garmin 1300.
Thanks
Bruce
