Garmin talk

I have an older Nuvi 1300 that I noticed was not getting traffic updates like it used to. I had the same traffic receiver cable but nothing was working. So I contacted Garmin support to see if there was a way to reset the unit and get the traffic alerts working again. Being an older unit I was not expecting much success.

I know that Garmin Express has an update every so often. I was downloading new map and checked Garmin Base Camp for new map install. They have an update. 4.7.4.0 Loaded OK for me.
Is this new or am I very late to party?

To begin with some program on my laptop somehow, without me initialling it, removed BaseCamp v.4.7.4.

Tried re-installing BC v.4.7.4 and v.4.7.3 Neither one did want to install and after several tries I gave up. It went through the install motions but only for about 15 seconds so I knew it didn't install.

OK... Fire up GE and it sees it... and says firmware is current, but then offers me a list of Costs for Map Updates.....

Disconnected and explained to her what she had....

It was a $3 Garage Sale purchase....

Poking around it seems there are numerous ways to change the colors in Garmin themes. One interesting web based site is at https://www.javawa.nl/zumocolors.html

Last map update one of two 2689LMT’s consistantly failed to load on SD Card.

This update today acted the same way on another brand new 16GB SD Card.
The two 2689’s act differently when attached to computer:
The one that updates correctly reports as a 2689 with a card attached.
The one that fails reports as 2 separate SD Cards.

I recently bought a Garmin Zumo XT for use while ATVing. I also purchased ORV Trail Maps from VV Mapping. Two weeks ago was the first ATV rides with the Garmin Zujmo XT. Yesterday was the first ATV ride with the VV maps installed.

I bought the Garmin Zumo XT recently.

I have plenty of vehicle power cables and suction cup mounts already.

Does anybody know how/if I can buy just the bracket only?

Ia it possible to pair the vehicle AND the DriveSmart series AND my phone at the same time. I tried this with my old 2689 and managed to mess things up.. so loath to try again with my new DS65 LMT.

Ideally, I would want the DS to only show text messages, leaving my current (flip) phone paired to my vehicle where the hands free option works perfect (for me).

Nice Saturday surprise...Map update came early!

A couple of years ago I created a trip/route on MapSource and sent it to my DS-50. I just did a new one but can't find where to import it on the device (senior's moment?).

Any info out there?

I accidentally formatted the internal storage of my Nuvi 2505 and now it is not recognizable in my MAC or in my Windows 10 PC.

Is there anything I can do do or it it trash?

Gamin does no longer support the device and said there were nothing I can do.
They offered me 15% discount on a new unit

At the end of most routes my DS65 gives me an option to find parking. Is there anyway to turn this off, I do not need a third of my screen filled with a request to find parking.

Fixed an issue with an error modal appearing when attempting to install a 3rd party map.
Fixed an issue with maps being locked in BaseCamp after a user installs maps to the computer.
Fixed an issue with older Oregon devices not able to be added to Express.

I am updating my Garmins tonight from 2022.10 to 2022.20.

It seems like it takes longer to update the older Garmins than it does the newer Garmin.

Has anybody else every noticed this or do I just happen to have some sort of odd situation causing them to take longer to update?

My oldest/slowest are Garmin Nuvi 350/360.

One of my newest is a Garmin DriveSmart 65 with Amazon Alexa.

I posted this in the Cloning FAQ discussion thread, but thought I would start a separate thread since most members don't need or try cloning. Does this spell the end of the useful life of the nuvi 8xx series?

So I just updated my Nuvi 2598, as I've done before many times without a hitch. Today, the Garmin Express installer finished, saying I'm Up to Date, but it also said an error occurred while installing. I had installed the map on both the computer and the 2598, so I opened Basecamp. It had a message stating that 2022.2 needed to be unlocked. Hmm...that's new.
