Garmin talk

I've used myGarmin.com in the past to update maps on my nuvi. I could install the map both to my pc, to be available to Mapsource, and to my nuvi. With the most recent map update, myGarmin attempted to download and install Garmin Express. I killed the install and used my old copy of Map Updater.

I have been trying all day to update my nuvi 50LM and keep getting message that connection to update service has been lost please wait. So I waited for long time and nothing happened. Tried to call Garmin and also they have 30min wait anyone have idea of how to get system up and running so I can update my GPS. THANKS

I downloaded Garmin map updater to my download file and then ran it. But after that I can not find where it installs on my windows xp computer.
Does it make its own folder or am I missing something?
I did do a search and found two files in Windows\Prefetch
they are Garmin mapupdater.exe.o and Garmin updater exe.2

P.S. not very good with working around computers

I've had a Nuvi 1450 w/ Lifetime maps for over three years and it does everything I want a GPSr to do. It has served me well, and I'm not interested in any other bells and whistles.

I made an external battery pack using 8 2450mah batteries and added an external lighter plug receiver. Any idea how long the GPS will stay on and will it cause any problems? I need to use it on a trip where no out is present.

Anyone know if the Garmin 2597 has mp3 alerts available? Or do I need to do that funky soe/wav thing?

Any comments on this unit would help.
Do the new Garmin models have rest stops included and if so do they show up on the screen the same way as the ones form this site do? Is there a alert sound that comes on? If rest stops are built in why would I need to download rest stops form this site?
Will this unit hold the latest maps without adding a storage card?

I have a nuvi 3790, with preloaded CN North America NT map.
I bought CN Europe NT map on DVD and installed it on micro SD card.
I bought Lifetime Map-update for both NA and EU maps.
Everything works fine, but with the EU map-updates I do not get the JCV file for Europe.

My friend who has a 2595LMT bought the CN Europe 2014.20 from Garmin. He is planning a trip this fall to Europe.
He has CN North America 2014.20 on his 2595 that includes North America, Mexico, and some Caribbean Islands.
The Nuvi recognizes both maps and they are checked in the map info page.

Just received this today, is it legit???

I am going to ignore it anyway since I do not have the products listed.

On my new Garmin 2595LMT, I get speed limit notices in places. When I drive and I'm at or below the speed limit the numbers are black but when I exceed the limit by even 1 (MPH or KPH) the numbers turn red.

First off, let me state that I have been a Garmin user for about 6 1/2 years. I "cut my teeth" on a second hand Garmin Street Pilot 2730. Since then, I have owned and/or used various Garmins, including the Nuvi 350, Nuvi 360, Nuvi 500, Nuviphone G60, Garminfone A50, and Garmin Mobile XT on a Pharos GPS Phone 500.

I have 2460 nuvi and I like to know if is any software for GTM 60 HD Traffic Receiver?

I was constantly reformatting a bunch of different SD cards and inadvertently formatted my basemap on the Nuvi(f)drive on the computer.
If anyone can help I now need the original basemap for North America and Europe,Please!

Garmin is suggesting a trade in and upgrade. Very unlikely they'll offer me much and this unit is excellent condition.

It used to be on my old 855, that when I clicked anywhere on the driving map, a new map would pop up tin 2D view so I could search for a nearby street if I so desired or zoom out and get a larger aerial view.

When I click on the new one, all it does is get rid of the text, so if I want to see where something is behind me (say, when I don't have a route set) it's impossible to do so!

I used to use trapster's traffic camera data, but now I'm giving POI factory's data a spin. I noticed that trapster had a lot more files than POIF and I see that these were all image files. What image (if any) does the POIF safety data display on my GPS as I'm driving?

I am downloading the new map file right now on garmin express, and it's telling me it'll be about an hour. I'd like to use my laptop during this time and having this appendage attached to my laptom makes it very awkward to use. Can I unplug my Nuvi and then re-attach it when the download is done?

Does anyone know a quicker way to create a Custom Avoidance on the 2555 or similar models.

I'm having problems loading my custom POIs. Storage was an issue so I put in a 4 gig SD. It works but when I hook the NUVI 1490 up to my computer and look at storage available, it is only showing 2 gigs usuable. Any ideas what is going on?

My computer is not recognizing my Garmin 1450 LMT GPS when I plug my USB cord in. So I cannot copy the files back to the device. When I turn on the device I just get the garmin logo screen and thats all... None of the resets are working - the device is literally blank...
