50 LM stuck in demo mode

I have purchased a Nuvi 50 LM for my son. I want to verify it is working OK before I send it to him in the Philippines.

When I turn it on it seems to be in a "store demo mode" with nice screenshots going by about how mice the gps is.

When I try to use it, it is permanently stuck with the gps simulator ON. No matter what I do in settings, it stays in simulator mode.

How do I get it out of retail-demo mode into consumer-user mode?

I've tried to re-set it too, but nothing helps! Help!

You could try a hard reset

Don't know if this applies to a Nuvi 50 LM but might be worth a try.
