Keeping the Windmill Alive - Where was your last trip with your GPS?

If anyone is in danger of losing their windmill, maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go. (Like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive smile.

This isn't my last trip, but I thought I'd share this.

My sister and her husband just got back from England and Scotland. Before they left they purchased a Nuvi 270. She said it saved their marriage.

With absolute accuracy, it took them down old dirt wagon roads and goat paths until they reached their destination - an old English cottage in the middle of no where that belonged to an old aunt. I saw the pictures of these four ft. wide dirt roads and was amazed that a GPS even knew they existed.

The GPS also was a big help in city driving as well.
After much debate, they were truly happy with their decision to buy it for this trip. She said the could have rented one for $20 a day out there and they stayed 20 days. Considering they paid $400 for it here in the US, it paid for itself. My sister said that if she never used it again, she got her monies worth!
(Being a golfer and a motorcycist, I'm sure she'll be using it again, and again.)

Visited a vineyard

Excluding some errands ran, my last real journey with my GPS was to SchillingBridge Winery and Brewery in the fair town of Pawnee City, Nebraska. Well worth the journey on a Saturday night for a wine tasting (or beer tasting) and their homemade brick oven style pizza.

Nothing too exciting - went up to Delaware to see the in-laws.

Using it all over Arizona, with one glitch

We've been using it all over Arizona (Tucson and surrounding area). Tuesday we're heading to Yuma, then to San Clemente.

So far it's been good. We had one glitch when heading to downtown Tucson art museum. It took us off the highway, then had us take 4 rights, making a square in a little neighborhood, then took us back on the highway. I think some of the NAVTEQ programmers were bored one day and programmed this little joke into the directions.

Tucson route possibly not a joke

Having lived in Tucson previously, there are two streets that are one way only downtown. It is possible that the route avoided going the wrong way down a one way street. Just a possibility.

It's those changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same. With all of our running and all of our cunning, If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane.

Here and there

Just got my unit a week ago and so far have just used it around town mostly and to/from work. I am impressed at the accuracy thus far. I really enjoy it and can't wait to do some long trips with it.

Garmin is working great!

Got us from Tucson, to Yuma, from Yuma to San Clemente where we completed our coast to coast journey! Will stay in CA until Dec. 12th, then head back pretty much the same way we came.

My husband did the route on mapsource, then imported it into the 765T.

I95 In the Baltimore Vicinity

Last Sunday, nuvi 760 with the latest firmware worked fine (no lockups) and traffic was reasonably clear for once!

We'll see how tomorrow's trip goes smile

My last trip.

We were taking friends to downtown Charlotte for the annual Christmas show at the Belk Theater and were dining at a downtown restaurant before the show. I used my Nuvi 350 to take us right to the restaurant parking garage. Oh! and the show was wonderful!

New Nuvi 465T and Zumo 550

Both have performed well on recent jaunts.
Some strange things w/ the Nuvi when it tried to calculate me back on the road when I was on a recently opened, new road. Kept shutting off and rebooting?!?!?
Not crazy about the auto zoom.

Last trip

I just came back from a round trip from Long Island NY to Fargo ND.
Went through 9 states. It made the trip a lot easier.
I didn't have to look at one map. I drove 1600 miles each way in 4 days per leg. (as I get older, I can't do marathon drives anymore) One of the nice things about my 350 is the lodging locator. just find a motel on my route and it gave me the tel. no.
Just call from the car and the room was ready when we got there. My wife loved it.

Last long trip

Just returned (Three weeks ago) from a trip from Chicago to Waynesville, NC.. Encountered the I40 Landslide.... (Our Destination was 17 miles past the I40 rockslide-- MM3 in N.C.)
Took mountain roads around it (off I40 to 25/70 at Newport TN, to Hot Springs, then NC 209 to I40 east of slide)... Great motorcycle road in the summer, but not when your in an SUV, racing sundown, and you've never been to the house you rented before, and it's at the top of a mountain, about 1/2 to 3/4 mile past the end of the Garmin Maps (As it turned out!!)

GPS worked beautifully. It was my first experience with TourGuide (Set up Crackerbarell as TourGuide).

And learned under the gun how to set up a "Via"
(To get around the I40 Rockslide)

It worked fine.... POI's and TourGuide both improved the GPS "Experience". !!

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love...

Disney Area

Yes I will agree Central Florida is tuff to get around.I make several trips a year there and would be lost off the main highways if I did not have my Garmin. They are always doing new roads from no where. My familys street took three years to show up on new GPS maps.Good luck traveling

I went from Central New

I went from Central New Jersey to Brooklyn Cruise Treminal to pick up a friend. I am not familiar with the area, so my GPS it helped a lot.

Baltimore

Did the normal Sunday drive to and from the Baltimore area today. No issues on I-95, so no alerts from the 760 to warn me about. I did notice an unusually high number of drivers for whom red lights and no turn on red restrictions have no meaning - complete disregard for any semblance of common sense. It's scary out there...

Dallas and Beyond!

My most recent trip was from Dallas, TX to Denver, CO for the Monolith Music Festival this year. It was a great time and our roadtrip buddies immediately fell in love with our low-end Nuvi. In 2 weeks, we've got a 2 week roadtrip from Dallas to Aiken, SC for the holidays. Looking forward to uploading some new POIs and taking lots of detours and sightseeing expeditions off the usual boring interstate route!
