Keeping the Windmill Alive - Where was your last trip with your GPS?

If anyone is in danger of losing their windmill, maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go. (Like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive smile.

This isn't my last trip, but I thought I'd share this.

My sister and her husband just got back from England and Scotland. Before they left they purchased a Nuvi 270. She said it saved their marriage.

With absolute accuracy, it took them down old dirt wagon roads and goat paths until they reached their destination - an old English cottage in the middle of no where that belonged to an old aunt. I saw the pictures of these four ft. wide dirt roads and was amazed that a GPS even knew they existed.

The GPS also was a big help in city driving as well.
After much debate, they were truly happy with their decision to buy it for this trip. She said the could have rented one for $20 a day out there and they stayed 20 days. Considering they paid $400 for it here in the US, it paid for itself. My sister said that if she never used it again, she got her monies worth!
(Being a golfer and a motorcycist, I'm sure she'll be using it again, and again.)

Wisconsin Dells trip

I have a nuvi 1490t It performed flawlessly although I wondered where it was taking me acouple of times. It rerouted me through several side streets north of Chicago led me from one interstate to another but got me to where I was going up in the dells in record time.I think it may have done this do to traffic.
The 1490t performed flawlessy the whole trip and I got to see the red light poi file work sevaral times.
Also when I tried to find our hotel with the nuvi poi's it would not show up.
But when I pulled up the best western poi file I got here right there it was.
I can highly recommend the 1490t I was very impressed my first trip with it. I drove all over the place liked I had lived there all my life pulled up businesses and called them found our favorite places to eat it was fabulous.
It also routed me off the Indiana toll road to get me to interstate 65 in gary about 3 miles on some side roads but still got me to interstate 65 i have not been up there for awhile but I am pretty sure the toll road would have had an exit for it.

There has been a lot of construction in that area. You might have avoided a backup that would have taken an extra hour or two. Then again maybe not. Sometimes the routing onto side roads is due to a much shorter distance at a slightly lower speed being faster. That does NOT take traffic and red lights into consideration though.

They are basically next door to each other, so visit both parks! It's worth it.

Trying to arrange a flight to Denver to see Rocky Mountain National Park,(never been there before), then drive to Yellowstone via Grand Teton.

Horse Stables

Have been using the GPS to locate local Horse Stables for my kids. Recently enrolled them in Equestrian training and they just enjoy touring to see the horses.

Cheers!

Baltimore and back

Pleasantly surprised by the traffic today - moving fine and no backups. Lots of motorcycles on the road, many presumably from the rolling thunder event in DC.

Nuvi 760 froze on the way back - no impact, but not sure what caused it. Will reload/drop some POI's/check for updates.

Got back from my memorial weekend trip with my new gpsr.

My last trip

I just used it to find a friend's house. I had only been to his house once before at night and couldn't be sure I would find it again. So.... I put the address into my Nuvi and off I went. I found the house without any trouble.

On Memorial Day, I will be going to the Golden Gate National Cemetary to visit my dad who served in WWII. I will be using my new Garmin 1490t to test out the junction view features as I will be passing several highway junctions. Then this time I will mark the coordinate of his grave site so as to find our way thru the maze of roads to it.

Wisconsin Dells

Glad to hear that. We are heading to the Wisconsin Dells later in the summer and plan on using the GPS then.

For the long holiday

For the long holiday weekend, the wife and I went camping in Mexico, PA. We didn't use our GPS for directions since we've been there before, but I did use my GPS on my phone (and a program called SportyPal) to keep track of our bike rides and our canoe trip.

For our next trip, I need some suggestions. We've talked about going to Niagara falls/Toronto, but we don't know what to do up there. Of course there's the falls and the big ferris wheel, but I have no clue what to do in Toronto in the middle of June. I'm guessing the water up there will still be COLD.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
Kevin

Many LAX games

I had to shoot 4 LAX games over the weekend and the 1690 worked well..

3 day trips in 1 long weekend

Used it for several day trips this past weekend - it saved my bacon on one trip - thought I knew how far the place we were going was away from home, but boy was I wrong! Glad I checked the GPS before traveling - it took about twice as long to get there than I thought!

HAHAHAHA I'm not sure if you meant that to be funny or not, but i find that hilarious. It's like my father-in-law who has his GPS on every time he drives. Even when he's going back and forth to work. He's worked there for 20 years, I think he should know the way by now.

Branson MO

A 4 day trip to visit friends in Branson MO over the Memorial day holiday. GPS worked great and the POIs were very useful in OK and AR to find fuel and food. Only had one rest area that was not announced but that could be that it is a cross over by a road to the rest area on the opposite side of the highway.

"left coast"

My wife and I went to 50 year high school reunion in Vancouver, BC with my new Nuvi 755T. We took the south route on #3 out and #1 back, with stops.

The newer #1 four lanes are not in the maps yet in western Manitoba and eastern Saskatchewan so there was some "recalculating". There were a number of times it seemed to have dyslexia with "on left" but was actually on right.

Ironic that in Nelson, BC the closest police on the GPS was in the state of Washington. I sent Garmin the address and co-ords for the Nelson Police.

We are glad we used it as it found where we wanted to go and gave us a good route. Vancouver has changed a lot. I over rode it one time to my disgrace and we ended up on gravel. One learns.

It was a good travel companion. H.
