Keeping the Windmill Alive - Where was your last trip with your GPS?

If anyone is in danger of losing their windmill, maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go. (Like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive smile.

This isn't my last trip, but I thought I'd share this.

My sister and her husband just got back from England and Scotland. Before they left they purchased a Nuvi 270. She said it saved their marriage.

With absolute accuracy, it took them down old dirt wagon roads and goat paths until they reached their destination - an old English cottage in the middle of no where that belonged to an old aunt. I saw the pictures of these four ft. wide dirt roads and was amazed that a GPS even knew they existed.

The GPS also was a big help in city driving as well.
After much debate, they were truly happy with their decision to buy it for this trip. She said the could have rented one for $20 a day out there and they stayed 20 days. Considering they paid $400 for it here in the US, it paid for itself. My sister said that if she never used it again, she got her monies worth!
(Being a golfer and a motorcycist, I'm sure she'll be using it again, and again.)

We've been pretty much snowed in since last weekend and we've got another blizzard pounding us right now. Who knows when we'll be able to get out.

Garmin nüvi 765T, nüvi 350

Missed most of the snow driving events

Used the Nuvi to and from BWI airport this week - Monday departure, Thursday return. Saw a number of issues on the road to/from including accidents, sudden lane closures for snow removal, and a taxi spun out in a snow bank right by the airport. Given the magnitude of the storms that came through the area, I was satisfied with the traffic information - and I was able to avoid at least part of a major backup on Monday (should have been rerouted earlier though.

Still going?

Ok I needed a post to keep my status up. Like I'm the only one!

Disney in Dec

Last extended trip was to Walt Disney World in early December last year.

Short trip today to our vet which is about 30mins away.

No problems with either trip as far as directions. Although in Disney there were a few instances where it took us one way to the parks and a different way back to the resort. Not a problem though because both ways took basically the same amount of time.

Orlando FL

Moved my son down there. Had updated maps (still not all that accurate) and drove over 2000 miles with it. GPS still gets me where I'm going but, honestly, the routing my Garmin comes up in some areas baffle me. Trying to route me off the highway because it thinks it is closed (reopened 3 months ago and route hasn't changed),pPicking very slow routes next to highways that are 1 mile longer, etc. They really need better QA!

Skiing

Stayed in Truckee, CA and skied Sugar Bowl. On the plane back from Reno to SFO was Julia Mancuso...who was on her way to Vancouver to represent the USA in Olympic Alpine skiing. She's earned a couple of Silver medals since that trip a few weeks ago! It was fun to watch her on NBC wearing the same powder blue ski boots she was carrying on the plane. Small world indeed....

Ooops, I screwed up the "quote" but in response to Wongman's post on page 34 which said --

tried to find a casino in placerville, but too bad the poi wasnt there... bummer

I reply---
The exit is pretty new, it is Red Hawk Parkway (for Red Hawk Casino)---it is one of the larger offramps outside of Sacramento, so you can't miss it.

I'll see how my spare time goes, if I can find the resources and locations, maybe I'll start a list of Indian Casinos in California.

A local library for the business tax seminar. It's a new library in unfamiliar part of the metro area, and I had to navigate through a slow moving traffic.

Have you noticed that people who drive slower than you and accuse you of "going nowhere very fast" are those who really aren't going anywhere in life?

That's misquoted George Carlin.

Well the day is finally here

My long anticipated wait for my job offer that will bring me back home has finally arrived - I can't wait until tomorrow, as that is when I was told I would get the call - followed up by the overnight arrival of the offer packet - if all goes well I should have a start on 3/15. smile

To Airport

Trip to BWI was OK - I was disappointed that the traffic signal took a long time to be detected on my 760. Once detected, the traffic problems were delayed in being reported and I was unable to avoid getting caught up in the heavy traffic. Did not result in missing the flight, but it was close.

Trip to Omaha

My last trip was to the grand metropolis of Omaha, NE, to visit someone who wasn't there and to buy a book not available at the bookstore.

At least I enjoyed my journey to and from.
