Keeping the Windmill Alive - Where was your last trip with your GPS?

If anyone is in danger of losing their windmill, maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go. (Like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive .
This isn't my last trip, but I thought I'd share this.
My sister and her husband just got back from England and Scotland. Before they left they purchased a Nuvi 270. She said it saved their marriage.
With absolute accuracy, it took them down old dirt wagon roads and goat paths until they reached their destination - an old English cottage in the middle of no where that belonged to an old aunt. I saw the pictures of these four ft. wide dirt roads and was amazed that a GPS even knew they existed.
The GPS also was a big help in city driving as well.
After much debate, they were truly happy with their decision to buy it for this trip. She said the could have rented one for $20 a day out there and they stayed 20 days. Considering they paid $400 for it here in the US, it paid for itself. My sister said that if she never used it again, she got her monies worth!
(Being a golfer and a motorcycist, I'm sure she'll be using it again, and again.)

When ever Where ever
When ever I go somewhere I'm unsure of, I pull it out of the glovebox and stick it on the dash. I don't use it all the time, just when I go somewhere I've never been to before. I do keep the Red Light Cameras updated, once I know where they are, I know and be careful in the future without having to have the GPS remind me.

New Nuvi 265WT trip cross town
Tried out the GPS on a trip across town. It kept insisting that we follow a road that closely parallels the Freeway. Coming home it was spot on. Learning curve for me is very steep.

And when I was flying on Southwest for all of the flights, my Nuvi 885T did a great job getting a fix and tracking me as we went.
I never realized how far away from the most direct path the airlines really fly. For example, my flight from Norfolk (ORF), to Baltimore (BWI), went over 90 miles west (vic Richmond), before they turned towards the destination airport. Had the pilot followed a more direct route, we would have been almost 15 - 20 minutes early.
I guess gate assignments and availability, combined with "air lanes" is the reason why...

No problems, avoided all the tolls around Chicago. If you don't use their "speed pass" they double the price of the toll.
To Pick up Cabinets
Used the GPS to find the shop of the man who was building our new cabinets. It was kind of funny because I had a hard time getting the man to give me his address rather than instructions on how to find his house. once I had the address, I plugged it into the Garmin, and it took me right to his driveway.
I still get a kick out of the fact that everyone has not adjusted to the fact that a simple address is all we need now.

We enjoyed the small towns from Tulsa to Flagstaff last year. The Arizona towns have done a good job of preservation. The Mother Road from Tulsa to Ok City seems to be dying a slow death. Just a few museums that resemble junk yards. At least what we saw.

Traffic is always a worry on a Sunday afternoon, but the Nuvi picked up the traffic signal prior to I95 today (nice for a change), and thankfully, all was clear - both ways. Easy and uneventful trip!

I hope you had the Mexican Restaurant POI loaded in your GPS from POI Factory. I know of a couple of GOOD restaurants in the Tucson area.

Cleaning out Home Depot...
My son needed a bunch of springs for a set piece he's building for a play. The local Home Depot didn't have enough, of course.
That's where the Nuvi came in -- where's the next closest Home Depot, let's go clean them out!
We visited 3 before we got the required number of springs, with the Nuvi doing the navigating.

You flew from Norfolk to Baltimore? Given all the time it takes at airports nowadays, not to mention getting to/from the airports, you could have driven for a lot less $$. Although it is fun to use you GPS on a plane, not that I ever did that because it's against the rules. There was a time when the max speed on my GPS was 501 mph but I don't know how it got there.

one block off!?
Went to a restaurant for the first time. It was on the original POI, right address. Strangely, it told us "you have arrived" more than one block off from where we were supposed to be! I had already crossed a busy intersection, and had to make a convoluted path to return to the right place.
Strange behavior!

Door County WI
Beautiful scenic area.
Nuvi 760 with a custom route to take us from western Chicago to the resort via more scenic state and county roads. Avoided Chicago and Milwaukee traffic congestion. We had lots of POIs entered and hit most of them. It always amazes me that even the little winding paved road/trails in the state parks are in the maps.
Just got back from a quick
Just got back from a quick trip to Crystal River, FL. Nuvi, as usual, made the trip so much more carefree without the need to refer to maps, and with the ability to locate places so easily. I don't leave home without it.

Everywhere
I have taken several trips this year with my nuvi 370. First we went to Los Angeles to celebrate our grandchild's birthday and returned through Phoenix to visit our daughter.
We then went to Minneapolis to a symphony where the guest musician played a Stradivarius violin.
We then drove to Elka Park, NY to bury my mothers ashes beside my father. Through the parks, A deer ran into the side of my Prius so I wished we had a deer avoidance in the Garmin. It cost the insurance company $7500 to repair. From there we flew to Ireland where we drove a car around the Island for 21 days. I had planned my trip and had all information in my Garmin. After following my path on the computer I found out while I was in Northern Ireland we walked on water for a day. GPS goofup.
After we came back we drove from NY to Los Angeles to celebrate our other grandchild's birthday. Drove back through Arizona.
Will finish the year with another trip to the coast and back. Am planning for next year.
Did a day trip up to Nashville
My last trip was to Nashville for the day - went up to Gruhn Guitars with my son. The 760 was flawless and it was nice to see the map updates.

Traveled from NC to MN for a 2 week visit with my aging brother. Used Mapsource to select the route I wanted to take, and travel my way. About 98% interstate highways. About 1200 miles each way, taking 18 hours driving time, and one night stay in a motel.
Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.
3500 Mile Loop
Seattle, Boise, Moab, Colorado Springs, Cheyenne, Yellowstone, Missoula, Seattle.
I set up a series of routes and my 780 was near perfect.
Only in Cheyenne did it get into a circle dance. Both the East and West interstate exits were closed for construction....before I knew it my 780 had me exiting and entering the freeway in an endless loop....sort of funny. We could see the motel though so I ignored Emily for a minute or two while I looped around. She seemed highly satisfied we made it....I did not hold it against her that she wanted me to do an endless U-turn loop...
latest trip
Went to the Pumpkin Festival in Allardt, TN last weekend. Took the scenic route (shortest) route and not the quickest. Went through some very small and rural towns. Hardly any traffic, 20 miles shorter trip, but about 25 minutes longer. Loved it.
Got a big trip in November I'm planning and loading various POI's for stuff in TN, GA, and FL.
Not really a planned trip got my wife and my garmin, but she's taking a work trip to Denver, and I'm trying to get her to bring along the Garmin on the private jet to hopefully get a new max speed for my Garmin and the forums. LOL. She isn't going to do it though. She'll be with her boss and the CEO of the company, and it just wouldn't be really professional.

Trip to Europe
Went to Italy, Monaco, France, Sapin.
We were on a tour so only used the GPS a few times when walking on our own.
Used GPS in Rome, sat.off by 96 feet so it made it hard to know what direction to go a few times.
Used GPS in Venice. Started out just fine but when back in the small paths and tall buildings lost sat. and got lost. Lost for about 1 and a half hour but it was beautiful. When it turned dark became concerned but found an open area by a canal and received sat. long enough to get back. (husband not happy as I told him we could not get lost with the GPS).
Used GPS in Spain. Worked great. Found a McDonalds!!! Finally got to eat some real food.
The trip was great but don't depend on GPS for walking tours if in a downtown area with small streets and big buildings.
Also turned GPS on plane on the way back from Madrid, Spain. We were going 569 mph. Was neet to see where we were.
