I downloaded a school file here and named it speed_20.cvs but I don't get proximity alerts and my GPS is set to give me proximity alerts...do I have to add something to the file or do I have to be traveling a certain speed to get the alert?

I was visually comparing the map rendering on my Nuvi and a Nokia E90. The Nokia uses Tele Atlas maps. It made me wonder about who is responsible for the rendering of the maps? Are the map providers in any way responsible for rendering the maps, besides just providing the data?

For those of you with the Nuvi 660. Does the latest 2008 map version with POI's include the Waffle house chain of restaurants.

A nice little program to compile POI lists. It's called POI harvester. You type what you're looking for i.e. Grocery stores, the zip code and the radius in miles you want to search and it searches Yahoo and returns a list in .csv format with lat and long, phone # and address.

I've used this program several times and it worked great.

If someone would be kind enough to post a Marina anchor symbol in the POI Icon Library it would be very much appreciated since I'm not really sure how to create my own.

Hypothetical question. If a POI file already exists on the POI-factory list, what should be done with any future submissions that seem to duplicate the category?

Navteq states that there are over 6 million points-of-interest included in their City Navigator® software. Does anyone know if there's a way to "see" the POI's that are installed along with the maps, on the City Navigator® North America NT Map Update 2008...

The upload program says that there was a problem loading my POIs with mp3 files. However, it works fine. I have had that error if I had windows explorer open, but I didn't this time and I have tried it several times. Again, after I upload it, I get the error, but the POI is there in the GPSr and the mp3 plays "Approaching School Zone" so it works fine.

Has anyone else had this issue?

i download new poi loader from garmin web site.

The new poi loader is better than before.

The old version, after u install all cus poi files, u need to find out what u mean, u need to spend more times to do it, but the new version. they will set up different files like ( red camera, speed camera, beach in CA and so on)

Does anyone know if it is possible to wire a GPS device to work with your car audio system?

Can anyone tell me if and how I can add voice alerts to my c330. I know some systems use the MP3, however, I've heard that the c330 does not use that type of file. No one can tell me what the file is or if you can add to it. Also, on that topic, is there any way to see all of the prompts the c330 gives out?

Hey anyone!!! Is it true you can program a Garmin unit to notify you when you are getting close to a speed trap.. or reduced speed limits, such as here in Birmingham, the speed limit thru downtown on freeway is 50mph... can I program my c330 to alert when reaching this area?
Just wondering... not that I really need it, but it would be fun to have it give an alert, just for kicks.

I was just wondering if you can tell a difference after you upgrade the maps.........if it's worth if to pay 70 bucks....after spending 999.00 in March for a Nuvi 680???...................Dave
