I am very new to connecting the GPS to my computer, and I have a problem that no one else has seemed to have... When I try loading a poi file to my unit, i get through the first couple screens, but right as it's supposed to be loaded into the unit I get an error that says that the file cannot be loaded and that i should try running poiloader again. what can I do to fix this?

I've been trying to figure it out but the unit doesn't help much.

On the Nuvi types under SETTINGS > MAP > MAP DETAIL ... what are the differences between the 5 settings (Most, More, Normal, Less, Least)? Specifically, I'm wondering what each one draws.

Just wanted To let Everyone know That i Have Updated The Canada Casinos POI File as of 6/5/2007 so who ever downloaded the file the New one is Totally Up to Date Thanks

all of the sudden, as in just yesterday, the 530 started "jumping" to the volume adjuster...the bars would show up as if I was adjusting the volume...when I had not touched the set at all...still works fine but had not done this ever...

Any thoughts?

how long does it usually take if you turn on your gps and start driving before the gps locks into the signal .

I decided to create custom redlight audio alerts for my Garmin 2720 so I renamed the audio mp3 file the same as the file for the Arizona redlight camera poi, except for the extension mp3. Unfortunately, when I put it to the test, all I got was the usual ding, ding and flashing alert but not the audio alert that I added to the file. Anyone have any ideas what I did wrong?

This week we are recognizing Viger6, RetiredTechnician, and an honorable mention goes to Mask667.

Viger6 has been hard at work making interesting Texas files I am secretly hoping that now that he is in the same city as POI Factory he may join forces with me on the metro area;)

does anyone have voices for camera alerts?

Has anyone used their GPS on a cruise ship, or is it even allowed?...Just wondering.

I just upgraded from 4.0.2722 (Jan 5, 07) to the latest version and the resolution of Placemarks has gone from 6 to 4 decimal places.

Fortunately, I had a copy of the older version and re-installed 4.0.

So, if you use Google Earth for POI's I would not recommend upgrading to 4.1 at this time.

Does anybody experience the phenomenon where you set an icon to one of your favorites, shutdown then restart and the icon is just the black dot? It's like it wasn't saved at all.

Not sure what to do about it. Any ideas?

I'm wondering if there's some place on this forum or another site to share icons. I've made some TOMTOM icons for several different POI categories and would like to share them. I've noticed that some POI posts have images included, but I don't have POI files for all of the icons (I downloaded some). Can I just send icons to photos@poi-factory.com and have them posted?

I was just wondering, let's say that you have 2 or more poi databases in the folder to be uploaded to the unit (nuvi in my case) and they're named differently... would the listings be shown separately or be combined together under "Custom POIs" submenu?

Hi Admin,
I was going through the extensive list of POI's available and I thought that if there was a cross reference list of POI's by state would it be helpful. This way going through all the files and finding those for my state is not necessary.
