Do I need to download icons and sounds with POI packages?
OK, so I'm new to the POI thing. Found a number of packages for which I am very grateful (such as Rest Areas, which would have been great to have driving from Virginia to Connecticut before New Year's).

"Recalculating..."
Every time I watch this, it makes me laugh.
It reminds me of stories posted here about owner's "adventures" with their GPS when they follow it's directions too literally.

New Garmin 1450
I got a new Garmin for Christmas (1450), I ran across this site a week ago and WOW do I love it.
I loaded a few POI's on the unit, now today I need to go back and add the icon's.

Current dot GPX File
I've just completed about 1000-mile drive around the state of CA (LA - Mammoth Lakes - S. Lake Tahoe - Reno - S. Lake Tahoe - SF - Fresno - Sequoia National Park - LA). I have current.gpx file from my Nuvi 760. As I understand it, this file keeps track of my trip.

Hi
Hi, I am new here. I have had my GPS, but am going to take a trip and I thought I would update my GPS. What better way then getting some new POI files.

My GPS lists Exit numbers but other online maps don't--why
Checking or planning a route can sometimes require going to other sources for coordinates. One major online source even, for a time, seemed to suggest downloading of routed trips to a GPS, but that source never has exit number expect on "get directions" printing.
Anyone know why they don't give map image that include Exit Numbers.

unread posts
I wonder if anyone else has had this thought (and wish)
I often read a post (using the Unread Post route) and think that I would like to post an answer but not just at that moment; maybe I want to look something up or test something on my unit.
I would love to be able to mark the post as "unread" to me so I could return at a later time.

Contributors of the Week 2010-12-27
This week we are recognizing VinceCANuvi and Tonytruck.
VinceCANuvi, Blew through the "What POI's would you like to see on here" thread like a tornado and answered everyone's questions. If there was not a file available, he made one. I love to see members take this sort of initiative to help make this community better. Great Job!!!!

First of the year pep talk from Miss POI.. Everyone please read.
Now that I have 4 years of experience being a forum moderator I can predict how things are going to go depending on what time of year it is.
I am being proactive this year in hopes that we can avoid all the after holiday bs that goes on around here.
I know that the holidays can cause stress and leave you feeling upset with people in your life.

Restrooms in NYC
I recently visited NYC (Manhattan) and was unaware of their lack of public restrooms and public accessible restrooms. Such thoughts never entered my mind beforehand. Anyone living in the NYC area (or elsewhere) with a desire to help give relief to weary travelers by creating a POI file list of restroom locations available, both public and business owned, would be a real hero in my mind.

Happy New year!
I just found POI Factory, having just seen it mentioned in a post in the GPS Review Forums.
We own a nüvi® 265WT and nüvi® 260W & have never used a custom POI. I just updated the firmware & maps in our 265WT & now I'll try a custom POI or two ![]()

Start of a new year
