Bell System Technical Journal Archives

For the techies in the group.

Bell Labs was the birthplace of many technologies and scientific discoveries that virtually define our understanding of the modern world and The Bell System Technical Journal (BSTJ) was the record of those achievements.

The entire archives of the BSTJ were placed online by Alcatel-Lucent and can now be accessed here.

Major treasure trove--

This is a major treasure trove!

The key papers by Claude Shannon, defining information theory.

Richard Hamming, inventing error correcting codes.

JW Tukey on the fast fourier transform.

Transistors, lasers, discovering the whispering echoes of the Big Bang,

And yet, looking at this archive and thinking about the organization that produced it, Bell Labs, and where we are today, I have the feeling of looking on the ashes of the great library at Alexandria...

Is the best that we can do with these incredible advancements in understanding, "Dancing with the Stars?"

LOL. Dancing with the Stars is like a spelling bee compared to some of the "reality" shows like Jersey Shore. Heck, just by typing Jersey Shore I think I lost two IQ points!!
