Keeping the Windmill Alive - Your last trip? - September 2011

The original discussion topic started by CherylMASS back in 2007 has been very popular; with over 3500 replies it's grown to be the longest thread at POI Factory.

In order to make things easier to navigate (and help avoid future technical surprises), I'm going to start a new topic each month like we do for the joke thread.

Here is CherylMASS' original post, continued here...

Microsoft Turns Windows Explorer into Utter Chaos

Not that this has anything to do with GPSs and not real sure why it made news today but I liked the headline.

Who still is without power after Irene?

I made it through the storm unscathed. 7 PM Sunday, POW! Something blows up in the neighborhood, and I'm thrust into the stone age. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a generator, but cold showers are so pase... I'm in Huntington LI, border of Greenlawn and am still out.

"Miss POI"

My time here as your fearless leader is at an end. I have taken a job with another company as a help desk agent. I am very excited about this new career and am looking forward to continuing my work in the field of customer service and technical support.

HomePatrol Scanner

Sort of GPS related. Picked up a Uniden HomePatrol scanner. Really quite a neat radio. Instead of looking up frequencies for your area, and programming in the trunked systems that police and fire use, you just enter in your zip code and the scanner selects the appropriate services from the US database it stores on internal SD memory. You can update the database weekly on their website.

Young and Geek

In response to “I must be getting old”

I’m 31 years old

I work two jobs, during the day I flip burgers at Mickey D and at night I deliver pizza for Pizza Hut

I live at home with my parents

I’ve been divorced twice and have four kids living with my ex, thank God for WIC so I don’t have to worry if the kids have anything to eat.

TakItWithMe.com

Is that site working for you? For some reason, "Transfer to GPS" and "Download GPX" buttons don't appear.

I've tried both IE8 & FF6.

Thanks.

Wal_Mart GPX

I just down loaded the Wal Mart GPX file and an error came up saying there is a Data format error on line 2,I don't know if the CSV file has the same problem.
