Is the poi-factory user contact form working?
I've tried contacting some POI maintainers using the user contact form. I also selected "Send yourself a copy." I never received a copy of what I sent and am not sure that the messages got through. Is the poi-factory user contact form working?

Do you use a GPS on you mortorcycle?
I recently posted a question "To screw or not to Screw" on the Garmin talk area and had only one response (thanks bramfrank).
So, do you use a GPS on your bike (motorcycle) what kind, left or right handlebar, rain or shine, and do you use built in mp3? There's got to be more than 2 of us.

Some mapping problems in Louisiana
I noticed in the BassPro Shops POI that they have one for Denham Springs, LA. However, on Garmin's new 2010 map they don't even show BassPro Blvd. So, if you are ever on I-12, exit 10, go south. You can't miss it. There is even a LongHorn Steak house and several other shops nearby.

Alberta Canada plans cell phone GPS ban???
In the Edmonton Sun last week there was an article that discussed a future law that would ban all phones in cars in Alberta including those using hands free. It also mentioned a ban on GPS's although it didn't mention if the ban would be to having the units or programming them while driving. I don't know if this is a trial balloon or a done deal.

Tom Tom publishes GPS user data
Makes a lot of sense, when you think about it. Years ago they put rubber hoses across the road to count cars passing down the road. They could count the cars and make an educated guess as to their speed. But only for that ONE spot.

What GPS coordinates collection law would you like see passed?
POI for GPS coordinates required for holes dug in Iowa: Did you know that if you dig/excavate a hole in Iowa in a location outside of a city that the global positioning system coordinate of that hole needs to be provided in an official notice if known.

Hey guys, new here!
Hey guys, like the title says, i'm new!
I just bought my first GPS yesterday. It's an off brand from what i can find on google, but it seems to work pretty well.
I'm going out of town next weekend and while i was trying to find my hotel up in columbus, it didn't come up in the POIs. So i did a little searching and found this place ![]()

New Feature: My Favorite Files
When you're logged in at POI Factory, you'll now see "My Favorite Files" near the top right column.
The page lists POI files that you've downloaded in the past and makes it easier to find files that have been updated.
A file marked with "new" has been updated since the last time you downloaded it.

Interesting routing instructions
I am planning my 1st trip with a GPS receiver. I will be traveling from Tucson to Los Angeles. The routing instructions from my Magellan 3225 direct me to take I-8 through San Diego and then up to LA. All online maps that I have checked (Google, Yahoo, Mapquest) direct me to go up to Phoenix and then W on I-10. The I-10 directions are about 20 miles shorter.

Bicycle GPS Unit
I have been researching GPS units for use on my bicycle and, being a Garmin Nuvi 650 owner, I looked at Garmin units first.
Scanning the reviews online I see lots of negative reviews on these fairly expensive units. Reviews like this:

In that 2 years it has been back to the mfg 7 times, each time something doesn't work again.

Virus (link to photobucket)
Just as a bit of information for all of you folks. Last Wednesday, I was perusing the site and I ran across a segment on screen shots. (I have tried to locate the particular posting but have been unable to do so at this point.) However, upon clicking on the link to get a glimpse of the screen shot, a virus was downloaded to my computer. It took seven hours to get rid of this thing.
