Does the POI Loader install all of your custom POIs on the SD Card by default?

Is there a size limit on the SD Card that you can use in the Nuvi units. 2Gb or up to 8gb?

A couple of times, I have downloaded poi files from the site in the gpx format. A few of these are up to 1MB (sometimes larger) and when I run POI Loader on my Nuvi 680, the program just freezes. When I delete the large gpx file, I am able to run POI Loader without freezing. Does anyone have similar experience and how does one deal with this?

I have tried to make some bmp icon files but cannot get them to work.
I followed the instructions on this site to make them and transfer them.
But I haven't had any luck. I downloaded the bmp then put it in my file and tried to load to my Garmin nuvi 660. It tells me there is no .csv or .gpx file.

Hello guys,I just bought an ATT Tilt online and it came with garmin mobile xt version 40.20.30wp, when I try to update traffic it says 'detail maps don't support traffic' everything else updates fine, how can I get traffic to work ? do I need new maps ? also when I had tomtom with my previos phone I could see my selected POI around me at all times any way to do this with garmin????

Does anyone know how to convert a point for example like 08-23-041-07W4 to a search point on the Garmin. Maybe how to convert this to a Latitude and Longitude that the 670 can do... I do many thousands of km's/month to different gas well sites and need to convert to something the Garmin can understand.

I received a copy of mapsource from Garmin. I planned a route and added two waypoints to force the routing algorithm to choose a route I know has less traffic.

So I guess this is more of an observation and Garmin wish than anything else....

I downloaded the walmart POI, and it exists on a road that the SP doesn't know exists yet. The SP tells me that the walmart I was being routed to is about 2-3 miles SE of its' actual location. MY question is - Is the Street Pilot compensating for an address it doesn't know, or are the coordinates not accurate enough? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Recently driving through New Mexico the rest stops were identified along I-10. However, the alert at some of these stops did not function. Anyone else have similar experiences?

I haven't had my nuvi 260 long, so I was playing around with it the other day. I pressed on the battery icon and waited until specs (that I know little about) came up. I pressed the down and up "buttons" and the backlight went down and up. I played a little more and then exited.

I have a Nuvi 260, I have learned to add POI files with POI loader. I now have added the Red Light ones. I also have learned to use Google Map to my 260. All thanks to everyone on this site.
I have read a lot about Mapsource,is there a need for me to get Mapsource? I know that I can not do routes on a 260, so is there anything else Mapsource can do that will be a benefit to me?

I'm a little gun-shy about calling this an upgrade with the bad experiences many of us have had with the disconnect problems on our smartphones. I spotted the upgrade from fw v3.00 to v3.10 while checking things out on the webupdater. It stated that it would address the issue of phone disconnects and I decided to upload this firmware version.

Garmin 350

I want to go to POI and select fast food (for example) and in addition to the list of fast food places, I want to go back to map mode and have icons of fast food show on the map as I drive by them.

How do I do this on my 350?

Just saw firmware ver. 4.30 dated 2/22/08 for Nuvi 660 on Garmin's website. Has anyone downloaded and installed it? Any problems or glitches with it?

I saw some earlier discussion on this board that ver. 4.30 was so buggy that Garmin had to take it down. I wonder what I saw just now is the same one or a replacement that has been debugged. Any comments by anyone?

Hi. I'm a new user and this is my first post. I recently replaced my stolen Magellan with a Garmin nuvi 760. I love it. I've downloaded some POI files and got them working.

Has anyone's Nuvi started mysteriously catching local TV channels? I was driving to work this morning and the satellite signal became very weak then all of a sudden the TV news came on with the local traffic report. The picture wasn't too clear but I could definitely make out one of the local news reports talking about the traffic jam that I was stuck in.
