Viewing POIs on Mapsource?

Hello all,
I'm new to this site and I'm interested in using POIs to locate things like National Landmarks and Monuments. I really haven't messed much with POIs but can see it's potential. What I would like to know is whether or not there is any way to actually see the POIs on a program such as Mapsource?

Let's say I download someone's list of POIs and want to plan a trip that would involve visiting some of these locations. If I use something like Mapsource to plan my route I would like to be able to see the POIs on the map so that I can have a sense of where they are in relation to my route. Who knows, my route may vary slightly if there is one of interest that I wish to visit but I'll never know this unless I can see this!

Like I said I'm new to POIs so I hope I'm missing something obvious!

Thanks for the help,

JetMonkey

Welcome. I believe you can do exactly what you are hoping, but I'll leave it for someone with more MapSource experience to say with certainty, and tell you HOW.

What I don't understand is why you said, "I hope I'm missing something obvious!"

POIs for Garmin units come in two different file formats ... CSV and GPX. MapSource can only open GPX files but not CSV files.

You can convert CSV files to GPX files. Then you can open the GPX files directly in MapSource.

If you have more than one GPX file that you want to few in MapSource, you will have to open multiple instances of MapSource at the same time and copy and paste all the ones you want into a single MapSource instance.

They will be Waypoints in MapSource.
