Question for Nuvi 7xx Owners

This is a follow-up to a previous post. I just upgraded to a Nuvi 760 from a Nuvi 650 and have noticed that the 760 will not display any of the internal POIs while driving, only my custom POIs will display. When viewing the map in browse mode they display fine but disappear again when I switch back to Map mode. (I know about 2D, and being zoomed in and all that.)
I emailed Garmin support concerning this issue, but in the meantime I'm wondering if this is an issue with my specific unit/firmware version or if this is common to all 7xx units running version 2.70.
So my question to all 7xx owners is this: do the internal POI icons display for you while in map mode?
Thank in advance for your response.
I believe
that this is the way it is designed. I believe that someone else posted this and got an answer from Garmin saying that the pois were supressed in map mode.

My internal ones don't and I am kind of glad they don't becaus my screen would be too busy. I can always find where they are when I need them.
My Personal POI's do show up, and that's all I need, personally
my internal as well as my
my internal as well as my custom pois show up when zoomed to a certain level
Well that's interesting. One
Well that's interesting. One says they do show and another says no.
I agree it kind of comes down to preference, so Garmin should at least give us the option to display them or not.
Internal POI's
On my 750 you have to be in North Up or Track UP and set the unit at 300ft or less to see any POI's. At 500 none show up...

How is the satellite signal compared to the 650?
I'm thinking of getting the 750 but not sure about signal. I had a 250w and didn't like it because it felt a little slow.
NUVI 680 and Garmin / Kenwood DNX710EX
Both of these units use SD cards to upload new info and ading POI's to the units. I would like to imports my customerfile to the kenwoood / Garmin DNX7 unit whish has 30 gig hard drive and SD slot to import info. Is there a specific format to input about 20,0000 records to lets say 10 additional points of interest within any of these units. AND anyway I can add customer contact info on the fly into each of the units in a certain format... excel, csv, text, sql, any data base format ro do you know of any 3rd party software that will do the trick? I have really good industry customer files in certain industries that I could trade if sommeone has develloped for easy to import software or would purchase software if it does not exit yet in this way rockner@msn.com
Signal
Had a 650...got a new 750 and downloaded the update from Garmin which includes a SIRF fix...just as fast if not faster....Of course that is my opinion...very happy with the 750. PCNation for $349, free Fedx and no tax...

I fine that the signal is very quick and don't have any problems with the unit. I like this unit much better than my C530. And since I got it at HSN at $299, I really love it!!!!

You must have been lucky as they currently show it at $499.99 plus shipping!!!! They have the 350 for $299.

Satellite acquisition time 6XX vs 7XX
I have a 660 with the latest F/W and a 750 with latest F/W (both have the Sirf instant fix). The 750 acquires satellites much faster than 660. 660 I leave my garage and consistently get satellite lock around 1 mile from my house (3 Min typical). 750 I back out of the garage close my garage door and get lock (20-30 seconds).
I have run them side by side and 750 is a clear winner in satellite lock.

My 760 is much faster at satellite lock then my 650 as well.
Satellite acquisition time 6XX vs 7XX
Same here, faster than the 650 or other brands I have used. Bought mine for $300 from HSN.com
Thanks!
I'll return my 650 and try a 750.
750
Be sure and run the update from Garmin. The unit you get may not have the 2.7 firmware update. Of course you can check it when it boots up...I downloaded it to my new 750 and everything is fine...

Re: Question for Nuvi 7xx Owners
SpyderMR,
The NUVI 750 review I referred to states the 7xx series with the SIRFInstantFix II is superior to the 6xx series in Satellite acquisition.
BTW, I bought my 750 from HSN on their one-day promotion date of 2/16/08. I returned a NUVI 650 and am much happier with the 750.

I don't know if I saw this
I don't know if I saw this in an above post or not... but I think you can see the POIs if you zoom in so much that its almost not useful.
Thanks

Thanks. Yes I knew about the zoom in limitation. Garmin support has confirmed though that they removed this feature from the 7xx series due to "screen clutter" and "improved drawing time". Personally I miss seeing them, but I guess the other features of my 760 probably outweigh that missing functionality.
