Garmin talk

I have a Garmin 750 and new to this forum. Just downloaded several POI files, imported to the Garmin, but I can't find them.
Any suggestions?

I have a NOVI 760. I loaded some POI's and they were in the spot on the GPS map as they are on land. Now they are on the road. I can look at a POI and drive buy it on a interstate, or another street and the GPS will not tell me it is there.

What am I doing wrong.

Garmin International has released their second set of the quarterly maps under the nuMaps Lifetime program moniker.

And I as I have been saying all along Garmin doesn't get the newest map data available. and should have called it's latest release what it actually is 2009.2, instead it gets named "CityNavigator NT 2010".

I have a Garmin Nuvi 360 and have enjoyed using POI's from the POI-factory. However, I have some alerts that pop up on some items that are obnoxious and won't go away.

Yes, it's just a 200, no bells and whistles. But for $87 it's not a bad deal. I have no idea whether buying this "recertified" unit will let you get a free upgrade to the current map software. NOTE: this is advertised as a "one day special".

I have a Nuvi 760 that is about 18 months old. Up until now, I have had no issues with it. I keep the firmware up to date but have not updated to the newest map version.

I almost never use the battery preferring to keep it plugged in to the DC in my car. Usually (not 100%), when I get home, I take it out of the window and turn it off.

I have a Nuvi 200 and I am very happy with it. However, I found out after a map update that I have the version with only 1 GB of internal memory.

I am looking to purchase an additional Nuvi and do not want to make the same (small memory size) mistake.

Does someone know where I can find a chart that compares the internal memory sizes of the different Nuvi model numbers?

There is now talk coming from Garmin programmers that the web updater will now run constantly in the system tray! That's right, a program that is known to create problems in the GPS is now going to be constantly running on your computer, PC or Mac.

Has anyone bought this or know anything about it. Sounds interesting.

I have a Garmin 660 with an FM TMC Traffic Subscription. It normally takes 5-10 minutes for the traffic to kick in when I leave for work in the morning but on the way home, it seems to load up at the exact same spot on my commute, no matter how long it takes me to get there.

Not sure if this should go under "Garmin Talk" or "Other GPS Brands" b/c technically the Kenwood KNA-G510 is made by Garmin...

Anyway I learned how to load POI's on the unit from this site--thank you! Here's my problem:

I have a Garmin StreetPilot 2730 now, but I want to buy a Garmin Nuvi 500 to add to my GPS arsenal. I want to also get the lifetime maps. I have a couple of questions, though. Will I likely get CN 2009 maps with a Garmin Nuvi 500 since 2010 was just released? Can I call Garmin within 60 days and have them mail a DVD update, but then install that on the Garmin StreetPilot 2730?

Does anybody have any opinions on Navteq traffic vs Clear Channel traffic?
Looking to determine which service is recommended and why...

Does anyone have a way to copy the custom POI files on a C340 to your computer? I had to give my work laptop back when I was laid off (amazing eh?) and I now realize that I didn't copy all of my files off it. The C340 doesn't look like a disk drive when connected to the computer like the newer devices do which complicates matters.

Please help if you can..

I just installed 2010 update and now Mapsource has a problem communicating with the Nuvi. Can that be fixed?

I used to have a Streetpilot I3, and recently upgraded to a C330.

On the I3, I was able to select a POI and select Find Nearby which lets you search for POI's close to that POI without making the first POI a destination.

On the C330, I seem to have to make it a destination, and then I can select find nearby my destination by using the Near... button

I'm looking to update the maps on my 660. Am I able to "backup" all the current files that are in my 660 on to my PC?
In case something goes wrong with the update...then I would just reload my current maps and data...
Also, when I upgrade, will my FAVORITES still be intact?

I have Eurpean map on a SD card. Do I need set up the GPS in anyway before I go or after I arrive? Download satellite locations, reset default locations, etc?

I downloaded the GPS file from the Flying-J website. When I want to load it to the Nuvi there is a message something like invalid file or so. How can that be done?

As others have noted relative to the 2010.1 update, Mapsource gets updated to 6.15.5.

Since Garmin still hasn't posted this update on their site, I'm wondering what the difference is. It could be my imagination, but it does seem to operate a bit faster than 6.15.4.
