Garmin talk

I noticed that after having upgraded my map, that my unit now chooses a different route going from my workplace to home.

In the past it would always route me the same way whereas now with the 2010.30 upgrade it routes me differently. Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else ?

Since I always take the same way home, I know for certain that there hasn't been any new road construction which could cause this.

The route preference and avoidances are set the same as in the past. Does anyone have an idea why then it routes me differently ?

I got a new 765T for Christmas and I spent a few hours fighting with it yesterday.

When I hooked up the unit to my Macbook, none of the Garmin tools would recognize the device, nor would it mount the flash drive. However, it did work on my wife's Macbook, so it wasn't the USB cable or the device itself.

Hi I am new to the forum and some really good information.

I have tried to get my Nuvi 255W to display the custom POIs in subfolders but can't. It just displays all of them when I go to the custom POI display. I have subfolders when I look into the files of my Nuvi on the PC but not when viewing them on the Nuvi display.

Found the subfolder post and thought I did everything right.

Can it be possible that I am the only one who has noticed that starting with the release of CNNA 2009 Garmin/Navteq''s mapping has gotten messed up?

With the release of CNNA 2009 my home changed sides of the street.

Have on and only one question: When in use, does the Garmin Mobile PC display, across the top of the screen, the names of the next upcoming road?

Being new to this.....I saw a card available on Amazon.com that was good for unlimited updates. The card had an $80 price tag.

Will the Garmin 755T I received for Christmas be supported long enough for this to pay for itself? I think it said that it allowed up to 4 downloads per year.

This is my first post. My dad got the 265WT and gave me his 255W. Can I buy a separate part to upgrade the 255 and receive lifetime traffic? Thanks for any replies.

Presently on my 255WT a black bar alert pops up near the speed camera location and red light camera location along with the boing boing with a bunch of small text. I would like a black/grey video camera type icon with just the speed in the center in larger letters for the speed cameras and a red video type camera for the red light cameras?

I have a Garmin 255W. I'm thinking about getting into the geocaching game in a small way, with my grandson. Does the 255W have the capability to do what will be needed to locate the "prize". If not, what would you suggest?

I have a Nuvi 765, and got a Nuvi 1490T for Xmas.
I have transferred my routes from the 765 to my hard drive and then
have tried to transfer them to the 1490T, using Mapsource, with no luck.
I have tried it several times. The transfer says it is successful and the the
..\GPX\Temp.gpx changes every time I try it but no Routes.

I purchased 2 Nuvi's 765t's. For Christmas presents, factory refurbished about 3 months ago. I tried to register and update map on one of them Christmas day. It had already been registered by someone else March 21, 2009. So I could not download a Map. I tried to up date firmware, but could not get a complete update. It would not boot to menu after installation.

i am new to updating or downloading pois to my gps. i followed all the instructions and they downloaded to my nuvi. how do i use them? i cant find them once i unhook my usb cable. where was it supposed to download them? are they supposed to be excel files? help

Not sure if I got a Dud unit. I've been using the bluetooth feature on my Nuvi 760 for a couple years now, and it works great. A Few days ago, I switched to a 765T and the bluetooth is junk. It cuts out, people can't hear me, etc... Does this sound like a Dud unit, or is the Bluetooth feature worse on the 765 as opposed to the 760?

Any input is appreciated.

Hey all, I'm having troubles with creating tourguides in GPX format. Up to this point all of my tourguide files have been in .csv format so I have to manually input the distance for every single tourguide file.

I bought 255WT last week. It was going smooth till today. Today my Garmin is giving me hell. The voice function is sticking down. When you going on road suddenly when narrator given instruction to turn voice is getting stick there. I mean its kind a static or something. Gives continues sound. Like the one we get from audio speakers when cellphone rings near by it.

I just bought my wife a Nuvi 285 and she was entitled to a free map update which I downloaded to my laptop.

Does anyone know if I can use the 285 map update on my nuvi 760?

Hi Folks,
I am a new garmin 255w user. I used the garmin POI uploader and installed some files successfully (various coffee shops and some bike trails) but some of them do not upload to the device - cool ones like the bigfoot sightings and the famous death sites.... Can I just plop those in a folder on the device? If so, which one, and if not, how do I get them installed??
