help and advice?? (some files do not transfer to the device)

Hi Folks,
I am a new garmin 255w user. I used the garmin POI uploader and installed some files successfully (various coffee shops and some bike trails) but some of them do not upload to the device - cool ones like the bigfoot sightings and the famous death sites.... Can I just plop those in a folder on the device? If so, which one, and if not, how do I get them installed??

Thanks!

You need to run poiloader

You need to run poiloader for your custom pois.See this post for installing custom pois. http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721 .Each time you run poiloader it overwrites existing custom poi files. So you have to load all of them at one time.

That is useful, thanks. I

That is useful, thanks. I still find, however, that the files I downloaded that are gpx.xml files are not visible on the device anywhere...is there something special about these files that the POI uploader doesn't work with them? I am a real newbie here, so there may be some fundamental concept I don't understand. I read up on the file types, but that wasn't helpful.

Are you using a Muc?

The Macs muck up the GPX files by adding the .xml extension. Delete the .xml from the GPX files and run POI Loader again. It will load them after you clean up from the Mac.
