Have Nuvi 255W and want to upgrade to receive traffic

Hi,

This is my first post. My dad got the 265WT and gave me his 255W. Can I buy a separate part to upgrade the 255 and receive lifetime traffic? Thanks for any replies.

GTM 25

You need the GTM 25 cable and a subscription, Garmin part number 010-00722-13

Thanks for the reply. Glad I found this site.

From what I have just

From what I have just recently read, there are two types of traffic options. One is MSN which has a monthly fee and requires a "traffic receiver." The other is FM Traffic which is free. However, a "traffic receiver" is also needed but there are no monthly fees.

The Garmin GTM 25 with Lifetime Traffic, for $88.14, is available at http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-GTM-25-Lifetime-Traffic/dp/B001...

WOW $88 for a "T"!!

This item should definitely sell for less than $50 and about $20 would only be fair. I only paid $72 for my 1250T and it came with the "T" lifetime traffic and cord. Thanks FW and BB closeouts...

I was surprised to see the other day that I didn't get the handy speed signs on some secondary roads...
Well something is better than nothing and seeing them on the primary roads is Great!

nuvi 250 --> 1250T --> 265T Lost my 1250T

This part is so overpriced.

This part is so overpriced. When my dad got the 265 there was a difference of $20 between the W and WT. I'll have to test the WT to see if it's worth spending the money.

Did you try Ebay ?

This is the cheapest one I've found.

GTM 25 cable not working

I'm still looking into buying the GTM 25 cable to see if it's worth it and borrowed my dad's cable. However, the 255 reports that this function is not available and then works normally without the traffic option. I live in the Toronto suburbs which is part of the traffic coverage. Any ideas on getting this to work? Or is this particular 255 too old to update? Thanks for any replies.

I think purchasing the GTM 25 with no monthly fee is a no brainer in this case. smile

....and if you wait long enough the price will drop considerably which is what I'm going to do.

It turns out I have a 250W

It turns out I have a 250W and not a 255W which is not supported for the GTM25 cable. Guess I'm SOL. Thanks for the help here anyway.

Traffic

According to the Garmin site, the GTM™ 25 with lifetime traffic and the FMI 40, Data cable & traffic are accessories for your unit. It should work.

Anyone know the recent price

Anyone know the recent price of the gtn 25 fm traffic reciever with lifetime traffic updates and who has the best deals for them?
