Truble with Garmin 255WT voice

Have you tried a different voice with same result? If it's only one voice maybe it's a bad file which can be downloaded again using webupdater

Ya i tried british, American, australian all English voice. same with all. tried to reinstall all again. but no change. Sometimes I am finding problem occurs less often when volume is down to 20 and more frequently when volume raise till 70-80.

Are you using the FM transmitter? That'll do it if you don't have a clear FM station.

Ya I am using it certainly. But I am living in an are which has strongest FM coverage. so that is not the problem. I have removed voice of YETI and Dr. Nightmare. Its working well in simulator mode. Let me try tomorrow morning on real time route. May be these files were causing trouble. Lets find tomorrow.

I think finally I have figured out the problem with my device.
I don't know about others but the voice update like from 1.0 to 1.1 in some of the English language were not working properly with my device.
I tried to reinstall them so many times but never went through properly. At last I deleted them from my unit completely.
Actually on the very first day when I bought my new 255WT GPS, I had copied all the device files to my computer without updating anything on my 255WT. Kind a made a restore disc. and then after deleting those troublesome voices from the device, I copied the factory installed voices from that previously saved files to the unit.
Now its working great. When I connect it to My Dashboard on Garmin sight, It shows me to update the firmware. but I am not willing to. Lets see how long this solution stands for!!!!

I have a 255W and I experienced a similiar, if not identical issue. I almost feel better knowing that someone else experienced the same issue. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

did you have your POI alert tone set to continuous or one time alert? thank you.

I have set it up for one time. I gave a series of test to over come this problem.
I tried it with custom POI on my unit and without it too. I came to conclusion that the problem was not with custom POI.
Today I had a 100 milt trip to San diego . and unit works perfect now.

NEVER EVER use the Dashboard!

Always use Web Updater and pick and choose the software downloaded to the unit. Dashboard always tells you you need an update and never tells you what, or if anything is being sent/retrieved from the unit. It was reported by one insider trip logs could be retrieved by Dashboard so ads on the free traffic service could be tailored for specific areas and times of day.

At last after months of consolation to my heart, I finally sent the device for replacement. For past 1 month it was give so much hard time. It Was going off a lot. Freezing problem and other things. I contacted Garmin and they asked it back. They are replacing my unit as it is still under warranty period. Customer care response was quick and was helpful . Lets see when I receive my replacement unit.
